Universities Search and Rescue Games 2019 have started

The  Universities Search and Rescue Games 2019 which is organized with the participation of 17 teams including University of Kyrenia have started with a ceremony held at Güven Park located in Ciklos. The USAR games are the only search and rescue games organized internationally by the Prime Ministry, Civil Defense Organization and International Universities Search and Rescue Council.

Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman, Civil Defense Organization President Necmi Karakoç and representative students made the opening speeches after a moment of silence and the national anthem. Following the lighting of the flame, the games started officially.

The authorities who attended the event, visited the area where the competitions and games will take place and also received information.

University of Kyrenia team which has been trained by the Civil Defence Organization throughout the year and also has been in the training camp for 6 days, will be representing our university in the 2019 games which will consist of 17 teams from 4 countries.


This year the game stages include; “Bridging, Material Handling and Wounded Transport”,  “Aerial Line Installation and Wounded Transportation”, “Orienteering”  “Concrete Mass Drag, Traffic Accident Response and First Aid” and “Rubble Response, Under-Mass Rescue and First Aid”.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday 29th of April at Famagusta  Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center.
