The Trash Tag activity which takes place every week is still ongoing with the participation of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Maritime Studies and Faculty of Health Sciences students.

The first activity took place at Alagadi Beach on the 27th of March 2019, followed by Tatlisu Beach and Karpasia Ronnas Beach, and now continued with Akdeniz Village Beach which took place on the 24th of April.

The coordinated activities carried out with the cooperation of Presidency of TRNC,  state institutions, students and volunteers aim to emphasize the importance of creating an awareness of a clean environment not only within governmental organizations but also within individuals.

On the 24th of April the Akdeniz Beach trash tag activity had been completed within a time frame of 2 hours which has been organized by Kyrenia Foundation Volunteers, with the support of University of Kyrenia Students, Alsancak Municipality, and Kyrenia Environment Department.

UoK Deputy Dean of Faculty of Maritime Studies Assoc.  Prof.  Mehmet Fatih Hüseyinoğlu stated that at the trash pick up activity which takes place every week, they have come across plastic and other types of waste which is a risk for the environment and living things.

Participants have expressed that the most important motivation factor for attending this activity is due to the trash tag taking place on the sea turtle nesting beaches. They also said that they would be happy to have the support of other institutions.
