The founder of the Republic of Turkey, the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was commemorated with respect and gratitude at the 10 November ceremony held on the 84th anniversary of his passing away.
University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak and Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, general secretary, deans, institute directors, vocational school directors, chief physicians, faculty members and students, as well as university and hospital administrative staff were present at the 10th of November Atatürk Commemoration ceremony held at Great Library Conference Hall.
The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean and Head of the Department of History Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul made a speech titled “Atatürk as a leader”. Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said that Atatürk, the founder of the secular, democratic and modern Republic of Turkey, the incomparable statesman, will continue to enlighten our path as he did yesterday, and his principles and revolutions will continue to guide the future.
The November 10th commemoration ceremony ended with a presentation of Atatürk’s paintings.
