An informative seminar was held as part of the Orientation Days for newly registered students that joined the University of Kyrenia in the 2021-2022 academic year

During the event held at the University of Kyrenia Grand Library Congress Hall; University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. Ilkay Salihoğlu, Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialist Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Ünal Evren, Kyrenia Police Department officials, University of Kyrenia Distance Education Center Director Specialist Hasan Tangül, University of Kyrenia Health Sports and Culture Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. Serkan Sancak and Student Affairs Director Salih Demirok made speeches.

Welcoming the students, Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu stated that they all came to an overseas country and that an adaptation period of 4 to 6 months awaits them.
Expressing that as a university, they will provide all kinds of opportunities for students to deal with the adaptation process more comfortably Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu said “Please do not hesitate to contact with our authorized units whenever you need.”

University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu reminded that students have reached this point after a difficult exam process and expressed that he believes they will maintain the same success during their university education period.

Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialist Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Ünal Evren during her speech stated that the University of Kyrenia Pandemic Commission is active and reminded that students can access information about the decisions taken on the website.
Emphasizing the importance of vaccination in her speech, Assist. Prof. Dr. Evren stated that it is predicted that the Covid-19 pandemic may end with the collective immunity that will develop after vaccination.

Noting that as physicians and scientists, they regretfully follow the misinformation produced on social media, Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Ünal Evren underlined the fact that vaccines were produced in a short time does not mean that efficacy and safety tests have not been performed.

Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialist Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Ünal Evren reminded that diseases such as smallpox, polio, tetanus and rabies almost have been eradicated thanks to vaccines, and underlined that there is no scientific evidence to support the anti-vaccine notion and suggested them to get vaccinated.

The officials of the Immigration Unit of the Kyrenia Police Department, gave information about the entry conditions to the island, how to obtain student permit and its renewal, how to be registered in the AdaPass system within the framework of the pandemic rules, and answered the questions of the students.

Specialist Hasan Tangül, Director of the University of Kyrenia Distance Education Center, focused on the use of the system and points of interest while Student Affairs Manager Salih Demirok gave information about the functioning of the student portal.

At the end of the informative seminar, where the students showed great interest and found answers to questions in their minds, Head of Health Sports and Culture Department Assist.Prof. Dr. Serkan Sancak gave information about the TRNC and the opportunities offered by the University of Kyrenia in general.
