University of Kyrenia to be accredited by Higher Education Council (YOK) of Turkey

According to press info released by Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia, the Higher Education Council of Turkey considering the reports of Supervisory Board of YOK that carried out inspections in TRNC, has accredited the University of Kyrenia by the decision of the General Council as of 16 January 2014.

University of Kyrenia that aims to specialize especially in marine, aviation and law sciences also completed the application procedures for membership of International Universities Association (IUA), European Association of Universities (EAU) and Federation of Universities of Islamic Nations (FUIW).

Following the accreditation of University of Kyrenia by Higher Education, Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council of (YÖDAK) of TRNC, the Higher Education Council of Turkey also accredited the University of Kyrenia of which education roots go back to 1978 and gained to higher education sector of TRNC in 2013. The University of Kyrenia was established with a scope that will focus on both training professional staff for the sector and making solid contributions to relevant sciences. The University of Kyrenia is continuing to studies with its 519 students and highly experienced academic staff.

Besides, the University of Kyrenia is carrying out 42 vocational courses for basic training in relevant subjects along with the academic trainings and scientific studies.

Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of University of Kyrenia, stated that the University of Kyrenia has completed all its establishment procedures and the establisment of its campus, that will comprise the most advanced infrastructure in academic and technological terms, is continuing in Kyrenia. Prof. Salihoğlu also expressed that the subsequent objective after this phase is getting into the line of top higher education institutions especially in marine, aviation and law education, and the university is carrying out the international membership procedures.
