University of Kyrenia has held an ‘Inclusive Education and Online Education Panel’ at 12:00 on the 4th of May 2020.

The ‘Inclusive Education and Online Education Panel’ has been carried out in cooperation with Near East University Social Research and Development Center with the organization of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Education. The panel focused strongly on the recent research of the possible developments of distance education during and after the pandemic process.
The Vice Rector of Trabzon University Prof.Dr. Hasan Karal and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Jemni from Tunisia Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) joined the online panel as a speaker.

University of Kyrenia Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, who gave the opening speech and conveyed information about the difficulties experienced in education during the pandemic process. Daglı, expressed that this inclusive education and online education panel within the scope of the action programs carried out which has made an important contribution to the university and faculty. Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı stated that the new findings will be shared with the relevant institutions, and thanked the university administrators and everyone who contributed to the conference.

Prof. Dr. Zehra Altinay, Co-chair of Social Research and Development Center at Near East University, briefly introduced the invited speakers, explaining that Prof. Dr. Hasan Karal and Prof. Mohamed Jemni are respected people within their fields of the Inclusive Education and Online Education, and also have many scientific works published in their fields. Altınay stated that Prof. Dr. Hasan Karal and Prof. Mohamed Jemni have attended many projects in cooperation with the Social Research and Development Center for many years.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Karal and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Jemni began their speech by expressing their happiness and satisfaction for being invited as a speaker by University of Kyrenia. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Jemni focused on international online education and shared many current data in the field of distance education. Jemni shared his views on the state of online education after the pandemic and added that the future of education can change, accessibility will be at the core of education and a healthy education will develop. In this context, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Jemni stressed that the conditions of education for the students will also change. Jemni also emphasized education research, noting that the impact of online data collection and technology will be very much in education research.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Karal stated that different needs should be taken into account and that the infrastructure of the services for them should be provided. Karal emphasized the importance of providing infrastructure services that everyone will benefit from on the basis of access, eligibility and availability, and emphasized what developments should be in for the inclusive education and online education during the pandemic process.

Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altinay emphasized in the closing speech of the “Inclusive Education and Online Education Panel”, stressing that as the Research Center, they attach importance to the issues of education after pandemic period. Altinay stated that these conferences organized under the leadership of Kyrenia University contributed significantly to the training of students and offered their thanks.

Besides the academics, students showed great interest in the conference.
