Within the forthcoming 7 years, there is a need for 6000 pilots and flight attendants…

According to the press info release from the Directorate of Press and Pubic Relations of University of Kyrenia, the Rectorship of University of Kyrenia has made a declaration:

“According to the data provided by the Council of Civil Aviation of Turkey and specialists of the aviation sector, currently; there are approximately 750 foreign pilots and around 5 thousand pilots working in the filed of aviation.Once the number of pilots who has shifted from the armed forces and joined the civil aviation sector is added, there is still a need for another 6000 pilots and flight attendants to work in the sector by 2023. In addition to the above, there is also a high demand for qualified staff to work in civil aviation management, logistics and cargo departments. General Directorate of Civil Aviation has put restriction on the recruitment of foreign pilots; causing and putting higher expectations on universities and licensed civil aviation schools, functioning under the body of YÖK ( Higher Education Council of Turkey) to provide for the need of highly-qualified and competent staff to be raised. In Turkey, there are 3 universities and 10 licensed aviation schools that are functioning under the body of YÖK, and by the year 2023, a total of 1760 students will be graduating from these institutions. Therefore, by 2023, a high number of job vacancies, thus shortages, is still expected in the filed of civil aviation. Moreover, aviation education costs in Turkey ranges between 30 thousand Turkish Liras and 60 thousand Euros. This cost is topped up with another 27 thousand Euros for flight costs, making pilot education an education that burns a hole in ones pocket. Besides, the need and high shortage of qualified personnel to work in the aviation sector, this is not only an issue for Turkey, but is also a matter for the whole World. Within the last few years, the largest investment made for the aviation education schools in Turkey reaches a total of 5 million Turkish Liras, and this could be interpreted as a clear indication of the significance of the matter.”

Being a product of a 80 million dollar project, University of Kyrenia is the Largest Aviation and Maritime Studies Education Investment in its region…

“The campus and the infrastructure of University of Kyrenia was initiated by a 80 million dollar project, and currently the University owns an education fleet of 6 aircrafts with single and twin engines. Despite the fact that the University of Kyrenia is facilitating a high-standard education, it is facilitating an inimitable opportunity by offering tuition fees much lower than other educational institutions require under the contemporary conditions. Furthermore, students are provided recruitment guarantee and are asked to make their tuition fee payments after having completed their education and having been placed into a position in their relevant filed of study.

As a university which has been newly established, and once compared to universities and institutions alike, the University of Kyrenia has been brought to life with a much larger project, and even though it has a capacity of hosting 4000 students, the University decreased this number to 1200 students-so as to offer the highest quality of education possible. Therefore, the University of Kyrenia has set sail to be ‘the best and the largest university’ for aviation and maritime studies within the region it is located in.”

The declaration made by the authorities of University of Kyrenia ended by stating that the deadline set for the registration to the University of Kyrenia for the academic year 2014-2015 to be as 5th September 2014.
