University of Kyrenia Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Mehdi Shahedi Asl Named Cyprus’ Top Scientist in the “Rising Stars of Science 2025” List

University of Kyrenia faculty member Prof. Dr. Mehdi Shahedi Asl has achieved a significant scientific accomplishment by ranking 1st in Cyprus and 42nd worldwide in the internationally prestigious “Rising Stars of Science 2025” ranking.

This ranking was compiled using data obtained from international bibliometric databases such as OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are respected data sources in the scientific world. During the evaluation process, objective criteria such as researchers’ H-index, number of publications, citation rate, and level of scientific visibility were taken into account.

In this year’s evaluation, the top 1000 researchers selected from among 166,880 scientists earned the right to be included in the “Rising Stars of Science” list. The fact that Prof. Dr. Mehdi Shahedi Asl is the only and first scientist from Cyprus to be included in the list is a source of great pride for both our country and Girne University.
