
The Director of the School of Foreign Languages and Head of the English Language Teaching Department at the University of Kyrenia, Prof. Dr. Nurdan Atamtürk, and the Foundation English School Coordinator, Burhan Gürtunca, proudly represented our university at the 58th International IATEFL Conference, held in Edinburgh, Scotland, from April 8 to 11, 2025.
IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) is one of the world’s most renowned conferences in the field of English language education, bringing together thousands of educators, researchers, and academic professionals from around the globe each year.
This year’s event featured over 500 sessions during its four-day main program, including plenary talks, workshops, academic presentations, panel discussions, lightning talks, and poster sessions. Participants had the opportunity to explore the latest trends in language teaching, technological innovations in ELT, classroom management strategies, and current research findings from a variety of international contexts.
Representing the University of Kyrenia, Prof. Dr. Atamtürk and Mr. Gürtunca attended several sessions focusing on teacher development, curriculum innovation, intercultural communication, and digital transformation in ELT. Their participation not only reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and global engagement, but also contributes significantly to the continuous professional development of the English Language faculty.
Both academics emphasized that the experience was enriching and inspiring, offering fresh perspectives and practical insights that will directly benefit the university’s English programs and teaching methodologies.
