The 2022-2023 Fall Term Turkish and Literature Days were held in 5 sessions on 21-22 November at the University of Kyrenia, Seminar Hall 2105, and on 23 November at the Near East University, Grand Library, Hall 4.
On 21 November, the opening speeches were made by Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, Vice Rector of the University of Kyrenia and Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Ali Eftal Özkul, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Near East University. Later that day, the first session titled “Turkish Cypriot Novel and Bekir Kara” was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Near East University, and the second session titled “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language in TRNC” was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selma Korkmaz, lecturer at Near East University, Department of Turkish Language Teaching, where she welcomed the speakers and guests. On 22 November, Session III titled “Problems in Turkish Language and Literature Teaching in TRNC” was held by Dr. Dilan Kalaycı, lecturer at Near East University, Department of Turkish Language Teaching, and Session IV titled “Past, Present and Future of Folklore in Cyprus” was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, lecturer at Near East University, Department of Turkish Language Teaching, where he welcomed speakers and guests.
On 23 November, the V. session titled “Kamil Özay Special Session” was held at the Near East University, Grand Library, Hall 4, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur, lecturer at the Near East University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and also the President of the Cyprus Writers’ Union, and ended with the results of the “Inter-University Kamil Özay Poetry Competition” and the presentation of awards.
