The solo painting exhibition titled “Celestial Stationary’s Magazine”, consisting of works exclusively made for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, was opened at the Exhibition Hall of the Near East University İrfan Günsel Culture and Congress Center. The exhibition can be visited on weekdays between 08.00-16.00 until 27 November.
At the opening of the exhibition, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Near East University Board of Trustees Member and Near East Bank Deputy General Manager Enver Haskasap, vice-rectors, retired Police Director Eray Merttürk, faculty members, artists and guests were present. At the opening of the exhibition, Vice-Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Artist Andrey Orazbayev gave speeches.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “Over 100 thousand works of art meet the society in 8 Museums …”
Near East University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ in his speech said that 360 international exhibitions have been held so far with the participation of more than two thousand artists within the scope of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts Project and more than 30 thousand works have been produced.
Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ, pointing out that together with the Car Museum, Herbarium and Natural History Museum, Günsel Art Museum, the Walled City Museum, Maritime Museum, Knife and Sword Museum and Toy Car Museum, which operate as part of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, stated that the total number of artworks is now over 100 thousand.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said in his speech that in the Republic month in which on one hand, the Republic of Turkey’s 97th year of establishment, on the other hand, the TRNC’s 37th year of establishment have been celebrated, 8 exhibitions were held in total at the Famagusta Near East University campus, the Walled City Museum in Nicosia, Near East Bank Headquarters, and at the University of Kyrenia within the scope of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts Project.
Andrey Orazbayev: “I am proud to be part of a unique project …”
Expressing that he opened his second solo exhibition for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, artist Andrey Orazbayev expressed his pride in being a part of such a unique project.
Explaining that the forces governing the air in Russian are called Celestial Stationary as a joke, Orazbayev said: “When I was working on the paintings, the weather was very hot and you could only imagine the rainy weather. Now, the rainy season has started in Cyprus. Nature is being renewed. Just like in the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. A blessed spirit of creativity is pouring into the world. Nature comes alive, life is filled with strength. This rain water the souls of people, keeps the life, causes development, feeling and seeing the beauty. I am proud to be part of this unique project. I would like to thank Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel. I wish a healthy life to his family and an energy that does not fade his team, and I wish inspiring and creative success to my colleagues.
Günsel Art Museum Honor Award was presented …
After the speeches, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel presented the Art Museum Honor Award to Orazbayev. Known as a performance artist working in the fusion style of fine arts and theater performance, the artist was also presented in 2019 with the Silver Key and the Ulug Beg Award given within the scope of the Alasia Awards given by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.
