Near East University has risen 40 steps in METU URAP’s “2024-2025 World University Rankings” and has become the only university in the top 1000 from Cyprus. Near East University, which is among the top 10 Turkish universities, has also been shown as one of the “Best Two Turkish Foundation Universities”.
The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory, operating within the Middle East Technical University (METU) Informatics Institute, announced the results of the “2024-2025 World University Rankings” it prepared via the Anadolu Agency. The list, which evaluates 3,000 universities worldwide and measures the academic productivity and scientific quality of universities, revealed results for 126 universities from Turkey which were included in the evaluation. 11 Turkish universities were among the top 1000 in the world. In the “2024-2025 World University Rankings” announced by URAP, Near East University became the only university in the top 1000 in Cyprus. Near East University, which is among the top 10 Turkish universities in Turkey, was also shown as one of the “Best Two Turkish Foundation Universities”.
Six basic criteria were taken into account in determining the ranking, such as the number of articles, number of citations, total number of scientific documents, total publication impact, total citation impact and international collaborations. Near East University, which has been showing a steady rise with its academic productivity, scientific research and international collaborations, has climbed 40 steps up in the world rankings.
11 Turkish universities are in the top 1000!
In URAP’s “2024-2025 World University Rankings”, 11 Turkish universities are in the top 1000 worldwide. The Turkish universities in the top 1000 are Hacettepe University, Istanbul Technical University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, Koç University, METU, Gazi University, Ege University, Atatürk University, Near East University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. Near East University and Koç University are the two foundation universities in the top 10 universities.
