The “Uzbekistan Artists Exhibition”, which is the 431st exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and brings the Uzbek culture together with art lovers, was opened at the Near East University İrfan Günsel Congress Center Exhibition Hall. Bringing together the works exclusively prepared for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge until 30 December.
This special exhibition, which brings together artworks such as “Great Silk Road”, “Huma Bird”, “Hive” and “Hunting”, as well as works made in the miniature technique that defines the history, culture and national motifs of Uzbekistan, consists of 52 artworks.
At the opening of the exhibition, Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Khasan Isakdjanov gave speeches on behalf of the artists of the Republic of Uzbekistan. After the speeches, the artists were presented their awards by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.
“Fergani” and “Dogdurbek Nurgaziev” awards were given to the artists
Artists Khasan Isakdjanov, Djaloliddin Ashrapov, Alovuddin Ashrapov, Latipdjan Sadikov, Makhmudjan Yakubdjanov, Mamurjon Najmutdinov, Dilshad Dadamatov, Odiljon Kamalov and Doniyor Isakdjanov received the “Fergani Award” given to painting artists as part of the Alasia Awards, from the hands of Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ.
Oybek Isakdjanov, Utkir Rakhimov, Mirazim Ashirov, Alimardon Tukhtamurodov, Farrukh Tukhtamurodov, Akbar Odilov, Nuriddin Ziyoniddinov, Miryakhyo Makhmudkhojizoda, Javokhir Ubaydullaev, Makhmud Mutalov and Sardor Sıddıkov received the “Dogdurberk Nurgaziev Award”, within the scope of Alasia Awards given in memory of Kyrgyz state artist Dogdurbek Nurgaziev, from the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Near East University and the Head of the Museums Department of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul.
Artists from Uzbekistan presented their traditional “National Golden Robe”, which is dressed as an expression of gratitude, love and respect to respectable people in Uzbek society, to Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel.

Starting the opening speech of the exhibition by emphasizing that the Turkish world is connected to each other by strong ties, Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “Even though we have separate borders on separate lands, culture, education and art come first among the elements that make up and hold the Turkish world together.”
Stating that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts has made its name known to the whole world by progressing a little more every day with its works and artists, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “The Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts is bringing art lovers together with its 431st exhibition in three years. We’ve come a long way in a short time. Because, each project kneaded with the rising art, science and technology on the Near East University Campus, each of the projects stands out as the lifeblood of our country, which is determined to carry its existence into the future.”
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “This productivity, born with the power we get from art and science, has also brought the position of Near East University among world universities to a very important level. Following the rankings of Times Higher Education and ODTU URAP, Near East University was ranked as the best university in the TRNC in the AD Scientific Index 2023 World University Rankings, while it was ranked 5th in Turkey and 408th in Europe. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
Khasan Isakdjanov: “It is a great honor for us that our works will be exhibited at the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which brings together the works of artists from many countries from the Turkish world under one roof.”
Speaking on behalf of artists from Uzbekistan, Khasan Isakdjanov started his speech by expressing his happiness to continue his art studies in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a while and said, “It is a great honor for us that our works will be exhibited at the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which brings together the works of artists from many countries from the Turkish world under one roof.”
Reminding that they also decorated the ceiling of Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque, the biggest temple of Cyprus, Isakdjanov said, “We are sure that Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque will have the admiration of more than one generation with its beauty and splendor, even as the years pass. It will be the pearl of Cypriot architecture and art. We are leaving the traces of Uzbekistan on this mosque with love.”
