Participating in the South Africa Solar Challenge international race with the flag of TRNC, on its fourth day NEU-RA 25, produced by NEU, sibling university of University of Kyrenia, reached the fourth pit-stop in tough and challenging conditions of Africa.

Teams participating in Sasol Solar Challenge started day four in Colesberg and completed daily loops to accumulate mileage before heading to the pit-stop in Graaff-Reinet.

Travelling through rough weather conditions, teams participating in the Sasol Solar are headed to the halfway mark of the eight day endurance challenge. To date, participants have travelled a total of 6 367 km powered by sunlight alone.

Icy winds, cloudy sky and heavy rain make the race difficult…

According to the press statement from the Press and Public Relations Office of NEU, the long and hilly ways and rough weather conditions such as icy winds, cloudy sky and heavy rain began to force the teams. Some teams had to leave the race due to technical problems caused by tough weather conditions.

In the press statement, it was emphasized that NEU’s participation in Sasol Solar Challenge with the name and flag of TRNC as well as realizing a leg of European Rally Championship in TRNC were significant events to contribute the promotion of our country. Throughout the race NEU-RA 25 has been waving the flag of TRNC proudly.
