The first exhibition of the new education period at Near East University was opened by President Ersin Tatar with a reception held in honor of the Tokat Protocol Delegation.

“Fine Arts September Exhibition”, the first exhibition opened by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts in the new academic period, was opened by President Ersin Tatar. With the opening held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall, a reception was held in honor of the Tokat Protocol Delegation that visited the TRNC. In the Tokat Delegation that visited Near East University, TBMM Health Commission Member and AK Party Tokat Deputy Dt. Cüneyt Aldemir, Tokat Mayor Eyüp Eroğlu, Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor Habib Korkmaz, AK Party Provincial Board Member and Tokat City Council Deputy Chairman E. Çağrı Somtürk and AK Party Provincial Board Member Alper Diker took place.

“Fine Arts September Exhibition”, exclusively prepared by 21 academic artists of the Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, brings together 50 works consisting of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and printmaking. The exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge until October 15. It is also the 447th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.

At the opening of the exhibition, which took place with intense participation, President Ersin Tatar, TBMM Health Commission Member and AK Party Tokat Deputy Dt. Cüneyt Aldemir, Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu and Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Dean Prof. Erdal Aygenç made speeches.


Ersin Tatar: “We are in solidarity with the Near East University and the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and many Turkish states in the fields of culture, art and science.”
President Ersin Tatar, who started his speech by welcoming the Tokat Protocol Delegation and the guests in the exhibition, emphasized that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey are an inseparable whole, like flesh and nail, and said, “The Turkish Cypriot people will continue to maintain their existence, strengthen their relations with Turkey and open up to the world.”

Recalling their contacts on the occasion of the 78th United Nations (UN) General Assembly held in the USA last week and the call of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to “recognize the independence of the TRNC” at the UN General Assembly, President Tatar said, “It is time to recognize the TRNC. The fact that the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, announced that direct relations should be established with the people of TRNC, gave us strength. It prepared the infrastructure for the search for a two-state solution that we advocate, and strengthened the basis of our struggle.”

Emphasizing the value they attach to culture, art and science, President Tatar said that the universities of the Near East Enterprises attach great importance to science, culture and art with its museums, and with GÜNSEL, gave unique works to the TRNC in technology, automotive and many other fields. President Tatar said, “Near East University makes our voice heard to the whole world in a universal language. Being among the world’s leading universities with its research, publications, studies in science and art, it continues to make our voice heard all over the world. We are in solidarity with the Near East University and the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and many Turkish states in the fields of culture, art and science.”


Dt. Cüneyt Aldemir: “The contributions of Near East University to the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey in the fields of education, health, science and art make us proud.”
TBMM Health Commission Member and AK Party Tokat Deputy Dt. Cüneyt Aldemir started his speech by saying “Near East University’s contributions to the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey in the fields of education, health, science and art make us proud.”

Dt. Cüneyt Aldemir said, “We are here today as ambassadors of the Republic of Turkey. We will happily tell about everything produced and developed by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and subsequently by the Near East University. We will proudly tell the stories of your great achievements, especially in the field of education. The growth of TRNC means the growth of the Republic of Turkey. We are also honored to have this meaningful exhibition opened on our behalf. As Republic of Turkey, we will be happy to support all kinds of activities of the TRNC.”


Eyüp Eroğlu: “I believe that the achievements of Near East University will be an inspiration to all our universities.”
He continued his speech by saying, “We brought you lots of love from the Motherland. Tokat Mayor Eroğlu started by saying “Cyprus is life and homeland for us”. Eyüp Eroğlu expressed his happiness by saying that he sees that Northern Cyprus changes and grows every time he visits.

Talking about his visits during the day, Eyüp Eroğlu emphasized that he visited the Near East University and that the art and science produced spread from one point to every point. “Near East University is achieving great success around the world. It is a pride for all of us that it is among the best universities in the world. I believe that the achievements of Near East University will be an inspiration to all our universities.” Stating that they tested TRNC’s domestic car GÜNSEL, Eyüp Eroğlu stated that they were very impressed by GÜNSELand completed his speech by inviting the participants to Tokat. Eyüp Eroğlu said, “When you come to our city, you will find warm people to welcome you as well as its unique nature and history.”


Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu: “We know and believe that societies can only progress by combining the transformative power of art and the driving force of science.”
Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said that they crowned the happiness of starting the new academic year with the “Fine Arts September Exhibition”, addressing the Tokat Delegation, Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “I wholeheartedly welcome our guests who come from the beautiful city of Tokat, our homeland, and honor our island and our university with their presence.”

Emphasizing the value that Near East University gives to art and artists, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “Near East Enterprises Museums, which gather modern works of artists from the Turkish world and many historical objects reflecting the culture and history of the Turkish Cypriot community under the same roof in their rich collections, open the doors to a completely different world by combining scientific production with a unique artistic atmosphere. “We know and believe that societies can only progress by combining the transformative power of art and the driving force of science.”

Referring to the place of Near East University in the “World University Rankings 2024” announced by London-based The Times Higher Education, which was announced two days ago, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “Near East University, which has been the most preferred university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the last eight years, was shown as the best university in the TRNC, ranking in the 601-800 band in the list of the best universities in the world. It shared the title of “third best university” among Turkish universities. With this motivation, our artificial intelligence-based academic we will hold our academic year opening ceremony with great enthusiasm, where AI Prof. DUX will give the opening lesson.”


Prof. Erdal Aygenç: “You can transfer and share your cultural and artistic riches to future generations through museums. In this respect, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts has an invaluable importance.”
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç, started his opening speech at the exhibition by touching on the comprehensive impact of art on people. Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “Art surrounds people, allows them to look at themselves and their surroundings from a different perspective, and makes life more livable.” Stating that technological developments provide time convenience for artists, Prof. Erdal Aygenç said, “Technological developments may save time for artists, but they cannot solve the artist’s personality and talent problems, nor can they go beyond his intuition and sensitivities.”

Prof. Erdal Aygenç, “Art is an endless research that by its nature tends to seek the newest and most original. Art is a relentless continuity. You can transfer and share your cultural and artistic riches to future generations through museums. In this respect, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts has an invaluable importance.”
