Prof. Aygenç: “Teaching Staff Exhibition” has gained a new momentum and content with the excitement created by the foundation of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts…
According to the information given by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said; The “Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Faculty Exhibition”, which has traditionally continued since 2010, has gained a new momentum and content with the excitement created by the foundation of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. It is a source of pride for us that the works not only of our lecturers but also of the graduate students, whom we have defined the artists and designers of future, take part in the same group exhibition. It cannot be said that the situation is common and very accustomed. However, becoming a Near Easterner is something like this; Being confident and courageous in trying and implementing the new. For this reason, we express our deepest gratitude to our Founding Rector, who provided us with this extraordinary motivation and has led us in our studies. Art education is carried out in special environments in line with its unique conditions, methods and techniques, programs, and requires the instructor staff to act with various equipments. Teaching staff working in the faculties of fine arts continue their educational activities while continuing their artistic activities. It is a part of the education that students observe their instructors while producing in a workshop environment, and watch the works they produce. Here is one of the tools that provide this opportunity.Congratulations to all the participants of our rich exhibition with examples from painting, print-making, sculpture, ceramic and graphic fields. I also thank Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün, the curator of the exhibition.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün: “In this exhibition, art lovers will have the opportunity to watch the works of our teachers and graduate students who produce in line with their artist and educator identities.”
Head of Graphic Design Department and exhibition curator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün; As it is known, we have been in an epidemic period since March. Quarantines, fears, and panic were everywhere. The fact that many routine things involved in daily life have been troubled during this period affected the emotional state of people negatively. However, I believe that exhibition of all these artworks produced within a 5-month period will cause a positive impact in terms of imposing positive morale motivation provided that the necessary precautions are taken in terms of health and social distance. We are bringing together different artistic disciplines in our exhibition, which consists of artworks traditionally produced by our academic staff and graduate students. In this exhibition, art lovers will have the opportunity to lay their eyes upon the works of our teachers and graduate students, who produce in line with their artist and educator identities. Nearly 100 artworks produced by 17 teaching staff and 11 graduate students for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts; The exhibition consists of artworks in the forms of painting, sculpture, ceramic, graphic and print-painting. I would like to thank all of the participating artist academics and graduate students who worked during this period.”
