The equipment of TEAL, the Training and Research Ship of the University of Kyrenia, is being modernized

According to the press info released from the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of the University of Kyrenia, the works relevant to the modernization of the technologic equipment of TEAL, which functions as an important lab for maritime training and research activities, have been completed and the blueprint is in the implementation phase.

According to the information delivered by Unlimited Shipmaster Hilmi Şahlı, the person in charge of TEAL, the technological equipments of the ship including engine order control, fire alarm systems and radar systems would be replaced with high-tech products in order to meet the current requirements and keep up with the contemporary world. During the designing process the most advanced technological systems and equipments were chosen not only to meet the contemporary navigation and training requirements but also to provide the scientists with cutting-edge technologic equipments that might be needed during their research studies.

Unlimited Shipmaster Hilmi Şahlı, who is responsible for technological developments as well, delivered further information by stating that the renovation works would not remain limited with the replacement of some equipment. He emphasized that latest technology devices and products would be mounted to revamp the ship and enhance the research capacity of TEAL soon.

The Unlimited Shipmaster Şahlı highlighted the importance of renovation and said: “Teal is the first and only research ship in TRNC. It is highly important to raise its research capacity to the ultimate level by equipping it with the state of art technology product and devices. Thus, TEAL would do every kind of marine research to meet the requirements of the era and provide training facilities for maritime students at the highest contemporary standards available. TEAL with its renovated technologic equipment will significantly contribute to the scientific studies of the University of Kyrenia and to the currently supported EU projects. It will also provide outstanding contributions to the requirements of the country”.
