Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Vice Dean and Günsel Art Museum Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün reminding that the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to affect the world, has an inevitable effect on artists, said that all artists have started to reflect the pandemic and struggle in their works. Stating that art production was not stopped by any obstacles throughout history, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün said, “There is no life without artistic production. The pandemic period also offered artists many materials that they can reflect in their works.”
Artists reflecting COVID-19 in their works made their works during the Quarantine Period
Stating that most of the works in the Covid-19 Exhibition were made during the quarantine period, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün said, “Modern art museums and their collections are taken as a reference when writing contemporary art history. This exhibition will be passed on to future generations as a true source of visual memory”. Stating that they are proud and happy to open the “COVID-19 Exhibition” on behalf of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts at the Halil Günsel Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall on the Near East Yeniboğaziçi College Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün said, “I think that all the works, efforts and productions carried out in this process will be better understood by future generations.”
