Students attending University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine in the 2020-2021 academic year wore their white coats with a ceremony.
The white coat ceremony, which had been postponed due to pandemic conditions, was held at the Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu Republic Hall.

The White Coat Ceremony was attended by University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, Secretary General Fehmi Tokay, deans, institute directors, vocational school directors, faculty members, students and their families.

During the White Coat Ceremony 47 students recited their oath altogether under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak.

At the ceremony where the future doctors wore their white coats for the first time, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu and Vice Rector and Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak gave speeches.

Starting his speech by greeting all the participants, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu stated that they are happy to be able to hold the white coat ceremony, even if it was delayed for a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emphasizing that students will receive both basic science and clinical education from very valuable faculty members, Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu underlined that students are lucky in this respect.

Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu said that the pioneers of young medical students contributed greatly to the establishment and development of the Republic of Turkey, which recently celebrated its 98th anniversary of the establishment, and to reach the level it is today in the field of medicine.

Congratulating the students for choosing a profession that requires dedication, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu stated that he is confident that they would successfully complete the training process, which can be challenging time to time, and concluded his words as follows:

“I wish you a successful and bright educational period. I hope we can come together again at your graduation, too. Stay safe and may your path be bright.”


Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak: “We provide education with a dynamic and innovative approach at the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine”
Dean of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak, on the other hand, started her speech by greeting the participants of the white coat ceremony, which could not be held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prof. Dr. Bundak stated that they provide education with a dynamic and innovative approach at the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine, and that the students in the first grades are currently continuing face-to-face education, while the 4th and 5th grade students are receiving practical training on campus at Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital .

Expressing her special thanks to the Günsel family for providing all these opportunities, Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak emphasized that they offer a warm and peaceful environment to students.

Saying that prospective physicians will wear their white coats, which’s colour represent purity , with the help of their masters, Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak stated that she has no doubt that the students would perform their profession with big effort for their patients without discrimination in the future.

Prof. Dr. Bundak advised them to learn their profession well, to make questions and not to limit their dreams.

Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak said that they would raise the young students with highly qualified faculty members and thanked those who contributed to the preparation of the ceremony.

The ceremony, which was a combination of exciting and emotional moments, ended with a group photo shoot.
