Micro B3 sea exploration pilot project, within which University of Kyrenia and Near East University are participating in accordance with the framework of FP7 supported by EU, is being expanding.
According to press info revealed from the University of Kyrenia, one of the primary aims of this project is monitoring the genoms in bacteria, viruses and in other microorganisms in marine environment throughout time and finding out the possible changes of quality in the marine environment. With regards to this aim, at the beginning of this project, it was decided to collect samples with other participants from the sea on mutual times in winter and summer seasons. It was discovered during the studies that collecting samples on more frequent basis will lead to better tracking of possible changes in marine environment. As a result of the meetings held with the project authorities, it was decided to increase the frequency of sample collection and collect samples once a month instead of two times a year. In accordance with the agreement, the next date of collecting samples was decided to be 22 October 2013, and the other dates of sample collection will be the 22nd of each month during a period that will last 30 months.
