According to press info released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia, the research carried out on ports of Cyprus by Enver Yetkili, lecturer of University of Kyrenia, has been completed and the research findings has been published as a scientific book titled Yesterday, Today and Strategic Importance of Cyprus Ports.
The book of Mr. Burhan Yetkili, the academic member and member of Researc Team of University of Kyrenia, tells how and under what conditions the ports of Cyprus have been established, what sort of a developmental process they followed, what the roles of these ports have been and how they affected the history of Eastern Mediterranean region throughout the historical process. Following a comprehensive archive-based research, the book has been also enriched with the oldest available photos, graphics, maps and drawings and includes detailed information about the marine history of Eastern Mediterranean region as well as the role of marine sector on the geopolitical structure of region.
Becoming a first in terms of its content, the book, that also has been enriched historical and technical data as well as visual materials, is an important source on marine history of Cyprus as well as other historical aspects of Cyprus.
Enver Yetkili, the writer of the book already carrying out his academic studies at University of Kyrenia, graduated from High School Marine Sciences in 1969 and returned to Cyprus following his graduation. He worked as a navigator, then as a chief navigator and Director of Port, and finally appointed to Directorate of Office of Ports.
