Dedicated to Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine deceased Dean Prof. Dr. Kürşat Turgut, the "Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut Memorial Exhibition” was opened at the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The "Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut Memorial Exhibition” was opened at the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. With the exhibition, which is also the 400th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut was commemorated through the works of art made by the students of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, of which he was the former dean.

Near East University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan, deans, faculty members and students attended the commemoration event and Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Dean of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş made speeches.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “The cherished memory of Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut will always live on at the Near East University with the same strength and beauty.”
Saying that they came together to commemorate the memory of a highly esteemed scientist, who is known as the "Teacher of the Teachers" in his field, Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized that the most important feature that defines Kürşad Turgut is his enthusiasm and love for life and people. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, "I believe that we should live this commemoration ceremony in a way that befits the enthusiasm of our teacher's love for life, people, students, profession, art and music, and stay away from sadness. Just as our teacher Kürşad would like."

Pointing out that the cherished memory of Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut will always live on at the Near East University with the same strength and beauty, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “We are feeling the consolation of presenting the last book of our esteemed teacher, which he completed before his death, to his students in memory of him.”

Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş said, “Our teacher always thought about the result, made a decision and immediately implemented it”. Referring to the discipline and success created by Kürşad Turgut as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Near East University between 2019-2020, Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş said, “Despite his administrative position, our teacher never stopped making projects and writing articles. He tried to learn something from each phenomenon. I still show the Academic Publishing Encouragement Award he received last year as an example to our students in the dean's office."

Talking about Kürşad Turgut's books for veterinarians and their students, Prof. Dr. İntaş said, “Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut always said that the best way to learn is to write. In addition to the Veterinary Gastroenterology, Veterinary Dermatology, Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis and Veterinary Cardiology books he wrote, the English Cardiology Handbook, which he wrote but was not published before his pass, is now ready for printing.”

Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş said, “In memory of their teachers, our first year students who reflect the animal figures of their dreams on their canvases learned that veterinary medicine is also an art. We thank the Founding Rector of Near East University, Dr. Suat Günsel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel for all their support and contribution to this event.”

Who is Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut?
Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut had an exemplary academic career. Graduated from Fırat University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Turgut started to work as a research assistant at Selçuk University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine in 1984.

He completed his doctoral studies at Ankara University Health Sciences Institute in 1989. He was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 1991 and professor in 1996.

Receiving overseas research scholarships and exchange program scholarships and funds, he took part in research and education programs in England (Edinburgh University), Netherlands (Utrech University), Finland (Veterinary Medicine College), Italy (University of Turin), Switzerland (University of Zurich) and Poland (University of Life Sciences). He has published dozens of books and articles on Gastroentology, Dermatology, Cardiology and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics.

In addition to his duties in different boards of Selçuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, he also undertook the duties as the Selçuk University State Conservatory Director, Selçuk University Faculty of Fine Arts Dean and Selçuk University Vice-Rector.

Known as the "Teacher of teachers" in the field of animal internal diseases, Prof. Dr. Kürşad Turgut assumed the position of Dean of Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
