President Ersin Tatar made a test drive of the first model of GÜNSEL, TRNC’s first domestic car, which was developed by Turkish engineers and designers with 10 years of work and 1.2 million hours of labor in accordance with the project carried out within the body of Near East University.

President Ersin Tatar got behind the wheel of 100 percent electric GÜNSEL and tested the vehicle in the driving area of GÜNSEL Production Facilities on the Near East University campus. During the test drive, President Ersin Tatar was accompanied by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel.
Making a statement after the test drive, President Ersin Tatar congratulated the Günsel Family who achieved this great success.

In his speech, President Ersin Tatar said that the first domestic car of our country, GÜNSEL, will make a great contribution to the promotion, economy, export, employment and development of the country. President Ersin Tatar said, “I am happy and delighted on behalf of my country” after the test drive with GÜNSEL B9. Stating that they will be happy to see GÜNSEL on the roads after the necessary test processes have been completed, Tatar thanked those who contributed to the project and the Günsel Family.

Emphasizing that GÜNSEL being a 100% electric car is an important development for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, President Tatar said, “The world is changing now. It is necessary to protect the air, emission and environment. When GÜNSEL is launched on the market, it will be among the firsts in the world with these features. I believe it will attract attention in terms of both domestic production and comfort ”.

GÜNSEL B9, which can travel 350 kilometers on a single charge, was produced by combining 10 thousand 936 parts in total. The engine of the vehicle has a power of 140 kW. The speed limit of Günsel B9, which can reach 100 km / h in 8 seconds, was electronically limited to 170 km / h. GÜNSEL’s battery can be charged in just 20 minutes with high-speed charging.GÜNSEL’s first model B9 was produced in Yellow, Red, and Blue colors. Yellow symbolizes the soil of Cyprus and blue symbolizes the homeland Mediterranean. Red was inspired by the red star and crescent on the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
