The “Fine Arts June Exhibition ” organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts as part of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations met with art lovers after the opening ceremony. The “Fine Arts June Exhibition”, which brings together 50 artworks exclusively prepared by the artist academics of the Near East University Fine Arts and Design Faculty and the artists of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, was opened by President Ersin Tatar at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall.
Bringing together 50 artworks consisting of art, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass and prints exclusively made by award-winning academic artists for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge until 3 August.

President Ersin Tatar: “Together, we will watch GÜNSEL in the parade to be held on Dr.Fazıl Küçük Boulevard tomorrow with great pride.”
Expressing his happiness at the opening of such a meaningful exhibition held on the eve of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day, President Ersin Tatar started his speech by saying, “There are very important preparations in our country today. Tomorrow, when we will celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, the esteemed President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be in our country at noon with his staff.”
Referring to the celebration program to be held for the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day, President Tatar also shared information about Ercan Airport, which will be opened. “Tomorrow, we will first open the new terminal building of Ercan Airport together with His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With the new terminal building, we will increase the passenger capacity of the existing terminal up to 10 times. Thus, we will be able to increase the capacity of our airport, which serves with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year, to more than 10 million passengers per year.”
President Tatar said, “While celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, I am proud to open this precious exhibition organized by the Near East University and the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. All these artworks revealed by the Near East University add strength to the existence, art, culture and struggle of the Turkish Cypriots. I would like to thank the Günsel Family, especially to Dr. Suat Günsel for bringing these values to our country.”
Stating that the domestic car of Northern Cyprus, GÜNSEL, developed on the Near East University campus, will take part in the parade to be held at the ceremony on Fazıl Küçük Boulevard, President Ersin Tatar said, “The GÜNSEL project, which I personally watch with pride, is one of the most important milestones of the struggle of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is the greatest proof of what can be achieved in our country. We will watch GÜNSEL in the parade to be held on Fazıl Küçük Boulevard tomorrow with great pride.”
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “I hope that our Fine Arts June Exhibition, which meets with us today after great effort, will inspire us all and contribute to the cultural richness of our society.”
Stating that he is happy to celebrate the anniversary of the 20 July Cyprus Peace Operation, which has great importance in the struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriot people and is the symbol of peace and freedom in our lands, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “As a country, we will continue to experience the enthusiasm of the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, which showed the whole world that the Turkish Cypriots are not alone, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It will be a great source of pride not only for us, the Near Easterners, but also for every Turkish Cypriot, that our country’s domestic and national car GÜNSEL, every stage of which has been completed on the Near East University campus, will also take part in the parade to be held on 20th July.”

GÜNSEL, which came to life with the determination of İrfan Suat Günsel, will continue to symbolize what we see as the most important pillars of progress.” saying Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ, further added, “I hope that our “Fine Arts June Exhibition” will inspire all of us and contribute to the cultural richness of our society. I commemorate our martyrs and veterans who gave us a country by giving their lives and blood, once again I honor the 49th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. I wish a future full of peace and freedom for our country and all humanity.”
Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç: “The basis of success is unlimited imagination and ‘curiosity’.”
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Near East University Fine Arts Design Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç, on the other hand, stated that the basis of the successful inventions of Near East Enterprises in the fields of science and technology is an unlimited imagination and a search for meaning called “curiosity”. Thanking all the participants who add value to the exhibition with their works and the exhibition curator Prof. Erdoğan Ergün, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “We would like to express our sincere thanks once again to our Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel and the entire Günsel family.”
