In terms of number of passengers carried, Turkey ranked 12th in the world and 6th in Europe in 2011. According to EUROCONTROL data, Turkey moved up from 7th in 2006 to the1st spot in 2012. The 2013 flight plan projections ranked Turkey as the 9th. According to EUROCONTROL report regarding the short-term, the growth rate for the aviation sector in Turkey is projected as % 7.3 for 2014 and % 7.1 for 2015.
