NEU-RA 25 is at the judicial capital of South Africa

Produced by the Near East University, sister university of University of Kyrenia, the God of Sun NEU-RA 25 made its way from Bloemfontein, the judicial capital of South Africa, to Colesberg on the third day of the international Sasol Solar Challenge.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of NEU (Near East University Cyprus), The Sasol Solar Challenge was well underway as NEU-RA 25 got start from the judicial capital Bloemfontein, which is one of the three capital cities of South Africa, to reach the third pit-stop in Colesberg on the third day of the race.

İ. Günsel: We represent TRNC with its flag in the race endorsed by FIA

Highlighting that Sasol Solar Challenge, which takes place under the control of international organizations such as FIA, is considered as one of the world’s most strategically challenging races of its kind, NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel said that the Near East University Solar Team represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with its name and flag in the best way in such a challenging international event. Touching upon the importance of alternative energy resources for the future of the world, Günsel stated that the Sasol Solar Challenge was a platform to foster research in alternative energy, to encourage industry participation and community engagement on environmental issues.” By means of the solar vehicle that we produced, we draw attention not only to issues such as alternative energy which is extremely important for the future of the world, but we also motivate the ideas of university students towards production. At such international platforms, we find opportunities to represent our country in the best way and show the world what our people are able to achieve” noted he.

Sasol Solar Challenge conduces to heighten student experience and add greater value to international publications regarding alternative energy as well as to contribute to academic life…

“As the Near East University, we take our every step for our country, our people, our world, and most importantly for whole the humanity. The steps taken to perceive the importance of alternative energy resources aim to motivate primarily the engineers in our country that specialized in the field of alternative energy resources, as well as electrical vehicle engineers. The Sasol Solar Challenge provides very significant contributions to heighten the experience and knowledge of our students, engineers and teaching staff engaging in this field. Besides, it provides ground for international publications regarding alternative energy resources as well as contribute to academic life.” said Günsel.

Consisting of 12 engineers, students and administrators, the Near East University’s Solar Team is headed by the Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel. Board of Directors Member Ahmet Savaşan and Director the General Görkem Bulunç accompany Günsel in South Africa.
