In the field rankings of universities announced by METU URAP, Near East University, which ranked among the best in the world in 9 fields, became one of the three most successful foundation universities in Turkey.

In the research announced by METU URAP, Near East University ranked among the top 10 universities in Turkey in Computer Sciences (6), Physical Sciences (7), Engineering (8), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (5), Technology (9) and Mathematical Sciences (9). In the field of Engineering, it was the best foundation university in Turkey.

URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance), which operates within the Middle East Technical University Informatics Institute, announced the results of the 2022-2023 field rankings. In the list, Near East University, which is ranked among the best universities in the world in 9 fields, became the 14th most successful university in Turkey and one of the top three most successful foundation universities together with Koç and Bilkent universities.

According to the last five years of academic performance, 84 Turkish universities found a place this year in the research, in which 3 thousand universities around the world are ranked according to their fields of science. Near East University, which was among the world’s best universities in seven fields last year, succeeded in making the list in nine fields this year. Near East University, which was among the top 10 best universities in Turkey in six of the nine fields, was shown as the best university in the TRNC in eight of these fields.

With this result, Near East University was also the only university in TRNC and Cyprus to be among the best universities in the world in 9 fields.

Near East University is the best foundation university in Turkey in the field of Engineering!
In the research announced by METU URAP, Near East University ranked among the top 10 universities in Turkey in Computer Sciences (6), Physical Sciences (7), Engineering (8), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (5), Technology (9) and Mathematical Sciences (9). Near East University, which was ranked as the best foundation university in Turkey in the field of “Engineering”, was also ranked as the second best foundation university in Turkey in the fields of Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences by URAP. In the fields of Mathematical Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Technology and Chemical Sciences, Near East University ranked among the top three foundation universities in Turkey. Near East University, which has the first Faculty of Medicine in Northern Cyprus, two university hospitals and a dental hospital, was ranked among the top five most successful foundation universities in Turkey in the fields of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Near East University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel reminded that Near East University took part in seven fields in the same study last year and was ranked among the top 20 universities in Turkey in six of these fields and said, “In the same study recently published by METU URAP, the number of fields in which we are among the world’s best universities increased to nine this year. In six of these areas, we ranked among the top 10 universities in Turkey; in eight of these areas, we ranked among the top three foundation universities in Turkey.” Prof. Dr. Günsel stated that Near East University has continued its rise not only in the research of METU URAP, but also in the lists of many rating institutions such as Times Higher Education, US News & World Report, AD Scientific Index, Shanghai Ranking. Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “This rise is the result of the systematic approach of Near East University, an international campus university where nearly 30 thousand students from 143 countries receive education, combining scientific productivity with the vision of University 4.0.”

Emphasizing that Near East University is ranked as the best foundation university in Turkey in the field of engineering by METU URAP, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said: “As Near East University, with our R&D and innovation capabilities and competent engineers and designers; we continue our efforts to develop prestigious projects in the fields of automotive, health, medical products, robotics, artificial intelligence, software and many other fields. We have the ability to complete all the processes of GÜNSEL, the domestic automobile of Northern Cyprus, from engineering, design, software to prototyping, within our own organization. Moreover, in GÜNSEL and many other projects, we open the areas where our students can show themselves to the end, and we share the knowledge we have gained in these studies with the scientific world.”
