Near East University presented four oral presentations in the international conference series titled Developments in Science and Engineering Technology organized by Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai.

Near East University participated with 4 different papers in the “Developments in Science and Engineering Technology – Advances in Sciences and Engineering Technology” conference series, organized for the fourth time by Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between 21-24 February 2022.

In the conference series consisting of conferences held in each of the nine engineering branches, new technologies were discussed through international participation. Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Director of Operations Research Center in Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin presented the papers of the Near East University at the conferences on biomedical engineering, sustainable environment and urban infrastructure, as part of the conference series.

In the conference series, Biomedical Engineering, Sustainable Environment and Urban Infrastructure, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Logistics and Industrial Systems Engineering, Innovations in Maritime Transportation, Innovations in Engineering Education, Aerospace Technology, Advanced Materials, Design and Manufacturing and Mechatronics, Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence Applications issues were in the center of focus of the conference.

The studies presented at the conferences organized to bring together academics, researchers, engineers, graduate and undergraduate students, and representatives of government and non-governmental organizations to share theoretical and practical information, best practices and innovations related to nine engineering disciplines will also be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital library.

Four important research presentations, one of which is invited from Near East University!
Four important studies, signed by Near East University scientists, were presented as oral presentations in a conference series, one of which was invited. The results of the joint study of Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buket Baddal and Lecturer Berna Uzun was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buket Baddal. In the study, the importance of double testing in identifying coronavirus carriers at border crossings and the effect of double testing and seven-day quarantine on controlling the spread of the virus within the country have been evaluated quantitatively.

Other studies presented by Near East University as oral presentations also draw attention with their multidisciplinary aspects. One of the studies presented aims to determine the most effective treatment methods by analyzing thyroid cancer with the VIKOR method. The research was carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Özşahin, Lect. Berna Uzun and Mubarak Taiwo Mustapha. Another study prepared and presented by the same team evaluated electronic blood pressure measurement devices with the “fuzzy TOPSIS” method and determined the most effective device mathematically.

The study presented as an oral presentation at the Sustainable Environment and Urban Infrastructure conference was carried out by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gökçekuş, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin, Lect. Berna Uzun and Nivin Ghaboun. The research aimed to determine the best waste disposal method by evaluating construction materials waste disposal methods with multi-criteria decision analysis.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “We will continue to bring the scientific world together with the international congresses we organize and to represent our country in international congresses held in different countries.”
Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ reminded that the Near East University has been ranked among the top 250 universities in the world in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science by Times Higher Education and said, “It is a pleasure for the Near East University to take part in such an important conference series where the technologies of the future are discussed in each of the different engineering branches, with four studies. It is extremely important in terms of demonstrating its scientific productivity.”

“I congratulate all my colleagues who presented their work in the conference series organized by Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai,” saying Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ, added; “As one of the most important science centers in the world; while we continue to bring the scientific world together with the international congresses we organize, we will continue to represent our country at international congresses held in different countries, too.”
