Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, Cyprus Car Museum, Walled City Museum, Herbarium and Natural History Museum and GÜNSEL Art Museum continue to feed the aesthetic sense and cultural awareness of their visitors as a source of inspiration with their works covering a wide range of culture, art, history, science, and technology.
Growing up in close contact with museums contributes to the development of critical thinking skills by feeding the creativity of children, especially those in primary and secondary school age. Students have the opportunity to learn with concrete examples in a museum environment and have the opportunity to relate the theoretical knowledge they have acquired at school to the real world.
Near East Enterprises Museums, which were visited by 2,000 students from approximately 20 schools providing education in the TRNC during the past academic year and summer term, will continue to be a popular destination for students in the new academic year.
Works of 3 thousand artists from 14 Turkish communities are in the collection of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts!
Located on the Near East University campus, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts brings together the works of approximately 3 thousand artists from 14 different Turkish communities with art lovers. In addition to sculptures and paintings with its rich collections, it offers the opportunity to examine see knife and sword collections, ship models, handmade glass works and many works from different periods. Located right across from the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the Cyprus Car Museum takes its visitors on a journey through time with more than 150 automobiles. While classics and sports cars from the 1900s are among the most striking pieces of the museum for adults, the museum also features many interesting samples for children, such as toys made from various machine parts, model cars, Batman and Transformers figures.
The Herbarium and Natural History Museum located on the Near East University campus awaits its visitors with geological materials from Cyprus dating back 250 million years, as well as more than 20 thousand plant and living specimens. The museum, where 11 thousand different specimens of 1500-1600 plant species found in Cyprus are exhibited, also exhibits 140 plant species specific to Cyprus.
Meet with culture and art in the center of Nicosia!
The Walled City Museum, located at the Kyrenia Gate in Nicosia, welcomes its visitors with works reflecting the cultural identity and history of Cyprus. The museum, which displays the history and culture of Cyprus from the Ottoman Empire to the present day under one roof, also exhibits calligraphy, certificates and decrees belonging to the Cyprus Foundations Administration and the TRNC National Archives and Research Department; the judge records of Nicosia and original works from the 17th century. The paintings reflecting the Nicosia of the period signed by Cypriot painters in the 1960s carry the traces of the recent past into the future.
Hyperrealistic silicone sculptures of Musicians, writers, Turkish Cypriot community leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük and his comrades Rauf Raif Denktaş and Osman Örek, Fehmi Ercan who was martyred on the first day of the July 20, 1974 Peace Operation and gave his name to the only airport in the TRNC, Cengiz Topel who was martyred during the operation carried out by the Turkish Air Force in Cyprus on August 8, 1964 to support the Erenköy Battle, and 17 names that left deep marks on the recent history of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are also waiting for visitors at the Walled City Museum.
Günsel Art Museum, which was established in the name of our country’s domestic and national automobile “GÜNSEL” and shares the same space with the “GÜNSEL Promotion Office” in Dereboyu, also draws attention as one of the museums that brings art to the city center. Günsel Art Museum houses oil and acrylic paintings, original prints, engravings, linoleum, serigraphy, lithography, woodcut paintings, as well as sculptures and ceramic works.
