July 1, Maritime and Cabotage Day Message

The world has given the required importance to the maritime sector since trade or navigation in coastal waters has strategic importance. The capitulations that granted cabotage privilege to foreign vessels was removed by the Treaty of Lausanne and the Cabotage Act came into effect in 1926. As a result of the enactment of the Cabotage Act, Turkish maritime has regained the opportunity to develop. For this reason, both in the motherland Turkey and in North Cyprus, the day of 1 July each year, is celebrated as “Maritime and Cabotage Day”. As the University of Kyrenia we feel immense happiness to release our first Cabotage message. We celebrate the “Maritime and Cabotage Day”.
