Library Week which celebrated for the first time 57 years ago, aims to increase the numbers of libraries and as well as the public’s interest in the book and the library. University of Kyrenia Grand Library that inaugurated in December 2020, has opened its doors free of charge to the public in order to meet the library needs of Kyrenia with its modern infrastructure and rich content consisting of 500 thousand books and 650 million electronic resources.

The University of Kyrenia Grand Library, which serves as the second largest library in Cyprus after the Near East University Grand Library, with its 6-storey modern building, keeps on enriching the information treasure it has.

Providing service with a modern and equipped 6-storey building on an area of approximately 9 thousand square meters, the University of Kyrenia Grand Library provides fast access to information with its shelf system designed in accordance with the Library of Congress Classification System (LC), which is also used in the USA and Canada. The Grand Library serves students and local people 24 hours a day.

In addition to reading halls, individual and group study rooms, electronic resources research room, periodicals reading section and archive the University of Kyrenia Grand Library has also a disabled study room, club rooms, a computer lab, a collection of rare works, a visual media library and an exhibition hall.

The University of Kyrenia Grand Library also provides free access to the Near East University Grand Library, which is one of the world’s leading libraries. Thus, the people of Kyrenia region can benefit from all the facilities of the Near East University Grand Library. With the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Grand Library, all the Grand Libraries founded by the Near East in Nicosia, Kyrenia and Famagusta create a huge digital library network that covers the all country.
