Held by the University of Kyrenia in cooperation with the Foundation of University of Kyrenia, the Unknown Aspects of Çanakkale War Exhibition hosted Kyrenia Mayor Nidai Güngördü.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of University of Kyrenia, Mr. Nidia Güngördü, the Mayor of Kyrenia was welcomed by acting Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, General Secretary Asst. Prof. Dr. Hürmüs Refiker, University of Kyrenia Foundation Director Mutlu Soykurt, academics and a group of faculty members.

Prof.Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu: “We are mobilizing all our possibilities for the University of Kyrenia”

Underlining that they were mobilizing all their possibilities for the University of Kyrenia and its students, acting Rector Professor Ilkay Salihoğlu expressed his views. “Human factor is our greatest deal that entails multidisciplinary efforts towards betterment of mankind through scientific inquiry and application. All our possibilities were mobilized and our new campus was completed within a short time. It was an arduous process; we exerted great efforts. Moving to our new campus after exerting outstanding efforts was very important for us in terms of creating a new phenomenon by University of Kyrenia. University of Kyrenia with its fully equipped infrastructure and dedicated academics is devoted to providing all possibilities required for cultivating highly trained individuals equipped with comprehensive professional skills with a solid commitment to social, cultural and ethical values. As University of Kyrenia, we spare no sacrifices to ensure a perfect educational environment for our students where they can receive top quality education and find solution for their concerns. We have set a foot on this way to serve for the betterment of mankind through providing quality education, scientific research, social and cultural activities. We are dedicated to continuing to steer the wheel and exert effort within this objective” said he.

Mutlu Soykurt: “As the Foundation, we want to be identified with Kyrenia”

Underlining that they were exerting to effort to identify the University of Kyrenia Foundation with the city, Mutlu Soykurt delivered brief information regarding the issue. “The Foundation has generated many projects to actualize. As the Foundation, our greatest wish is to be identified with this city. We have many project drafts regarding this issue. We aim to develop much closer relations not only with the university and its students but also with the citizens of Kyrenia” said she.

Nidai Güngördü: “We are very satisfied with our city’s coming forefront not only with tourism but also with education”

Touching upon the significant effect of science and art on a city’s life, Kyrenia Mayor Nidai Güngördü expressed his views during the visit. “We consider a city as a living organism so we can cure and fix it. While managing cities, scientific and artistic endeavors that aim to inspire a change in social life should be exerted. It is essential to attach importance on science and arts in this geography. These are the key factors to bring about positive chance. We will continue to support arts and science as we work to propel our efforts towards actualizing our ideals. We are very satisfied with seeing efforts towards making our city a hub of science. The growing number of universities in our city is very promising. It is very satisfying that Kyrenia is coming forefront not only with its tourism potential but also with education. University of Kyrenia is a significant institution. It is a plus value for Turkish Cypriots. Every touch is a color and variety for the city. Consequently, competition brings different colors and touches with it. We have to train the students within this frame” said he.

Expressing his admiration while touring the exhibition, Kyrenia Mayor Nidai Güngördü voiced his impressions. “To collect all respective documents and reflect that period of history is really an arduous and demanding process. While touring the exhibition, you feel yourself like living in those days. Animations, which were full of vigor, arouse an excitement. In this regard, I would like to extend my appreciations to the University of Kyrenia for organizing and hosting this exhibition” said he.
