Assist. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Soykurt penned the inspiring life story of Işın Ramadan Cemil, one of the leading businesswomen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in the third book of her “Jewels of Northern Cyprus” series.
Written by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Soykurt, the Jewels of Northern Cyprus series, is meeting with its readers with its third book. Assist. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Soykurt this time is telling the story of Işın Ramadan Cemil, one of the leading businesswomen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in the third book of the series, which will be released on March 3.
For 23 years; Işin Ramadan Cemil, who will celebrate her 80th birthday next year and have run Ramadan Cemil Enterprises, played a leading role in the formation of civil society and social responsibility culture in the country, as well as being one of the leading businesswomen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. She took part as the first Turkish woman diplomat in the government established in 1974 following the Cyprus Peace Operation.
Işın Ramadan Cemil is still a member of the Cyprus Turkish Women’s Union, a Founder and Honorary Board member of the Business Women’s Association, a founding member of the Foreign Affairs Members and Spouses Association and the Environmental Protection Foundation. She also was the founding member and chairperson of thought clubs such as Cinémathèque Community, Beşparmak Thought Group, Kyrenia Initiative, Reading Club, and local branches of international clubs such as Kyrenia Innerwheel and Welcome Clubs International. Cemil became the Founding Regional President of International Inner Wheel 222nd Region ALASIA. She is continuing to support the arts and sports life with the Cyprus Turkish Education Foundation and similar educational institutions, charities and thought associations of which her family are co-founders.
Işın Ramadan Cemil, who is also the owner of the Business Women’s Association Honor Award, was awarded the Marian Adair “Exemplary Person Award” of the “Welcome Clubs International”, which is also recognized by the United Nations, in May 2021. The award, which was given to a TRNC citizen for the first time, was announced to the whole world at the 35th anniversary celebrations of the association.
The “Jewels of Northern Cyprus” book series, published by Near East University Culture Publications, appeals to all age groups with its colorful narrative language and design. The book series aims to inspire everyone who reads it, especially children, with the inspiring life stories it covers, and to bring together our remarkable people who shape the society, our values such as self-confidence and hard work, social responsibility and empathy, and young people. In the first two books of the series, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Soykurt brought to the pages the inspiring stories of the legendary music teacher Yıldan Birand, who broke new ground in the TRNC, and Raziye Kocaismail, the President of the Cancer Patients Aid Association, whose mission is to raise awareness of health in the society.
