The first of the 6 schools that the Near East Enterprises decided to build in each of the 6 districts of the TRNC and hand over to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education and Culture, Dr. Suat Günsel Nicosia State Primary School was opened with a magnificent ceremony and handed over to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education and Culture.

With a capacity of 500 students, the foundation of which was laid on March 19, 2021, in Gonyeli Yenikent, Dr. Suat Günsel Nicosia State Primary School was completed in a record time of 5.5 months on a 14-decare land by the Near East Enterprises and made ready for education.

President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ersan Saner, Security Forces Commander Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Finance Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Interior Kutlu Evren, Minister of Health Ünal Üstel, Minister of Labor and Social Security Koral Çağman and the deputies, the undersecretaries, the head of the civil defense organization, the mayors and the guests took part at the ceremony.

After the speeches of Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Prime Minister Ersan Saner and President Ersin Tatar respectively, the delivery ceremony started. Near East Enterprises Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel symbolically presented the Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, with the silver key, and Dr. Suat Günsel Nicosia State Primary School was handed over to the Primary Education Department.

In the text read before the delivery ceremony, it is stated; “Günsel Family Board, to be expressed very briefly, has devoted itself to the task of improving the education given from pre-school education to doctoral level and to give new impetus to its country in all fields of education and art. In the presence of our President, Günsel Family Board is handing over the first of the 6 primary schools it will establish, considering it a public duty. This is the sign of our minds and hearts reaching into the future. May it be a gift to the integrity of our nation and the inviolable and sublime existence of the Turkish Cypriot People.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “This area, which stood as an empty lot, turned into an education nest that would be filled with the chirping of our children as a result of 5.5 months of day and night work.”
Reminding that the Günsel Family Board decided to build a state primary school in each of the 6 districts of the TRNC on December 10, 2020, and hand them over to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education and Culture, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Having a great pride and happiness, we are opening the first of the 6 state primary schools that we have decided to bring to our state and our country, fully equipped and ready for education. This area, which stood as an empty lot, has turned into an education nest that will be filled with the chirping of our children as a result of working day and night for 5.5 months.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel also said that they will make Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School for education in September 2022. Prof. Dr. Günsel stated that the foundations of the other state primary schools will be laid as soon as the lands of schools are determined in Kyrenia, Lefke and Güzelyurt.

“While strengthening the primary education of our country with Dr. Suat Günsel Public Schools, we started a very important project in our national and domestic automobile, GÜNSEL, where we touched the future and life of our high school youth. Dr. Günsel said that they offer scholarships, internships and job opportunities to young people studying at vocational high schools with the “My Job is in My Hand” project, which they started within the body of the GÜNSEL Academy.

Referring to the panel titled “Cyprus Turkish History and Teaching” jointly organized by the Ministry of National Education and Culture and the Turkish History Foundation and hosted by the University of Kyrenia, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel also announced that as Near East University and the University of Kyrenia, they included Cyprus History as a compulsory course in their education curriculum. Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “We believe that it is an important historical responsibility to ensure that the history of Cyprus is correctly learned in our country and in the world, by accurately conveying the history of Cyprus not only to our own youth, but also to our students who prefer our country for higher education. The most special basis of this responsibility is not to forget our debt to the nation-state, our motherland Turkey and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect our own history.

Stating that they continue to produce projects based on high added value, R&D and high technology in the field of health as well as in the fields of automotive, robotics, digital education platform and game development, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel gave the good news that they started to work on developing a COVID-19 vaccine after the domestic PCR Diagnosis and Variant Analysis Kit, of which R&D and design were completely carried out within the body of Near East University, and the COVID-19 preventive nasal spray they developed with international cooperation. “The Virology Research Laboratory, which we started to establish, is not only for COVID-19; will conduct research on many viral diseases and develop vaccines. The virology studies to be carried out will provide very important gains for our country, both academically and economically,” said Prof. Dr. Günsel and added; “With this success, our Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will increase its prestige in the world many times by putting its name to the list of countries such as Germany, China, Russia, USA, England and very soon our homeland Turkey, which have managed to produce COVID-19 vaccines so far.” Prof. Dr. Prof. Günsel stated that they will open the full-fledged hospital in Yeniboğaziçi at the end of the year. Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “Near East University Faculty of Medicine Yeniboğaziçi Hospital, which we plan to put into service at the end of the year, will be our sixth full-fledged hospital that we offer to our country together with the University of Kyrenia dental hospitals, Animal Hospital, Near East University Medical Faculty Hospital, and Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Medical Faculty Hospital.

Referring to the many investments made by the Near East Enterprises, Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “I would like to summarize what we are doing as the Near East Enterprises and what we aim to do in the future with three words of my father Dr. Suat Günsel. The first of these is “I want to live on the island like a continental person”, the second is “We should be proud of what we have not done yet, not what we have done” and the third is “Art is the definition of humanity”. Under this guidance; We will never stop making investments that will integrate our island and country with the world, regarding the Turkish Cypriot Community and our country as the original owner of the Enterprises, and working to make art an unchangeable part of our community life.”

Olgun Amcaoğlu: “The only basis for protecting this country is nothing but protecting the youth and the future.”
In his speech, the Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu said, “As a child born and raised in this land, it is a great honor for me to be making this opening here today. A very meaningful establishment is now taking place in this land on which we played games 45 years ago. Not long ago, while the land of Dr. Suat Günsel Nicosia State Primary School was being delivered, I said that these steps you had taken would be a flare for the future of our children” and added, “In the TRNC, where only one school was opened in the last 10 years, 16 schools were laid or opened this year.”

Amcaoğlu said, “It is necessary to take everything well done as an example and move forward with more confident steps into the future. We should do more than thank you and support all these works. In the next process, we will walk together with you towards the next target. All of us aim to make our children well-equipped and educated individuals of the future by using contemporary educational opportunities. Amcaoğlu said, “The sole basis of protecting this country is nothing but protecting the youth and the future.”

Starting his speech by greeting the guests, Prime Minister Ersan Saner said, “We see what we can do in our country with the cooperation of the private sector and the state. This is another day where we realize what is in our hearts. Here, I care very much about the value that the private sector adds to the country and the benefits that our country gains from it.”
Referring to the precautions they took during the pandemic period, Prime Minister Ersan Saner, after listing the statistics showing the severity of the pandemic, said, “Steps such as the local PCR Diagnostic Kit and protective nasal spray developed by the Near East Enterprises to be used in the fight against COVID-19 added strength to our country in this process. I sincerely believe that the Near East Enterprises will complete the vaccine studies with the same success and make our country live this pride.”

Stating that the Günsel Family has pioneered the country by making investments not only in the field of education, but also in many fields, Prime Minister Saner said, “These are no coincidence. They are the advancements made in line with the belief of contributing to their country and adding value to the lands where they were born, lived and loved.
