The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that spread all over the world could not stop the artists. As in the world, painting, ceramics, print-making and sculpture artists continue to share their works with art lovers in TRNC.

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that sculpture Altai Usenov expressed the ancestral heritage through his extraordinary art by sculpturing a horse with stirrups that he named as “heritage”.

“Stirrups are like traces of the ancestors …”
The artist Altai Usenov said the following about his work; “In this composition, I wanted to express a legacy from the ancestors by depicting a horse with stirrups. The stirrups are like the traces of ancestors … Although our ancestors have passed away, we proudly recall their wisdom and bravery from generation to generation. The artist Altai Usenov said the following about his work; “In this composition, I wanted to express a legacy from the ancestors by depicting a horse with stirrups. The stirrups are like the traces of ancestors … Although our ancestors have passed away, we proudly recall their wisdom and bravery from generation to generation. Without the past, there can be no present time and therefore no future. Stirrups have a crucial role in supporting a rider while riding a horse. The horse constitutes the main theme of the composition. For any warrior, a horse represents speed and wings. This horse can take its rider anywhere s(he) wants to reach in seconds and protects him/her from a deadly danger while fighting”.

Who is Altai Usenov?
He was born in Issyk-Kul region in Kyrgyzstan in 1996. He graduated from the boarding high school of the Art Academy in 2014. He continued his art education at the Department of the Sculpture of the National Academy of Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic and graduated in 2019.

He participated in the Manas exhibitions in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He was the winner of the 3rd prize of the Manas exhibition held in 2015. He also participated in the Autumn Youth Exhibition.
