First Lady of TRNC Meral Akıncı visited the Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital and Simulator Centre of Faculty of Maritime Studies

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, First Lady of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Meral Akıncı (spouse of President Mustafa Akıncı) visited the Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital and the Simulator Centre of Faculty of Maritime Studies with her accompanying visiting committee which included the Head of Presidency Gülden İlkman and Presidency Consultant Berna Arifoğlu.

During the visit, Rector of University of Kyrenia Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu; Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı; Dean of Faculty of Tourism and Business Administration Dr. Mehmet Altınay; Dean of Faculty of Maritime Studies Prof. Dr. Mustafa Altunç; Communal Research and Development Centre, which functions under the body of Centre of Excellence, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay; Head of NEU Educational Sciences Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay; and Chief Physician of Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital Prof. Dr.Nail Bulakbaşı assisted the visiting committee.

Meral Akıncı emphasised the motto of Dr.Suat Günsel “to live on an island like continental people!”

It was pointed out that Meral Akıncı was given detailed information regarding the Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kreynia Hospital, including the fact that the hospital began providing its services since November 2016 as a fully equipped Hospital. As she gained further insights about the Hospital, it was stressed that the First Lady was rather impressed and

said that she remembered Dr. Suat Günsel’s motto. She stressed that with the presence of such a Hospital, we really found the opportunity “to live on an island like continental people!” Additionally, she emphasised that such an outstanding hospital was not even available at certain continents. She expressed many thanks to Dr. Suat Günsel for having such a vision; providing such services to the Turkish Republic public. She pointed put that the quality of service and hospitality provided by doctors and all other staff of the Hospital made her feel at home. She continued that Dr. Suat Günsel’s service was not limited with just education and health services; she said that she believed he also made contributions to culture, sports and art on the island. She ended her words by re-thanking Dr. Suat Günsel for all that he had accomplished throughout the years.

The visit ended when Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu presented a memory plaque to Meral Akıncı in memory of the day.
