Faculty of Maritime Students Successfully Represented Our University at The “March 8, World Women’s Day: Sea Sparkle Symposium” in Istanbul

The symposium under the concept of “Our women are like the shimmer of the sea: Sea Sparkle, Sea and Women” , which was held due to 8th March International Women’s Day has been organized under the leadership of Chamber of Marine Engineers (GEMIMO) and Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA). At the symposium that held place in Istanbul from Faculty of Maritime Studies, Department of Ship Machinery 4th grade student Rukiye Doğan and from same faculty, Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering Department 1st grade student Almila Sönmez represented our university. During the symposium, issues which the women in maritime sector encounter, the importance of career development and women’s reflection on business were discussed and our students had the opportunity to meet and exchange information with business leaders, and also academics and students from maritime faculties of other universities. After the presentations of precious women who made the “firsts” in maritime industry and committed to the sea and maritime, our students expressed satisfaction with their chosen profession.

Our students who also made speeches have actively participated in symposium with questions on their future and business life, and they exchanged ideas.
