The “Fine Arts November Exhibition” organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts in honor of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the TRNC met with art lovers at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall with the participation of the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
The “Fine Arts November Exhibition” organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was opened at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall with the participation of the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
The exhibition, which was enriched with the works of Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts academicians, Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts artists and guest artists Kaan Canduran, Ali Asgar Çakmakçı, Janina Myronowa, Buğra Özer, Soner Pilge, Mariia Raskin and Hasan Numan Sütağlar, brought 60 works together with art lovers. The exhibition, consisting of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, stained glass and prints, can be visited free of charge until December 15.
At the opening of the “Fine Arts November Exhibition”, the 450th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts;, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu and Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Dean Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç made speeches.

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu said, “Republic is science, light, art. It is forward thinking, science and much more. We are happy to be at this level, where we are celebrating our 40th anniversary.”
Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu said, “We will have many more 40 years to celebrate and we have full faith that these days will be a part of the ever-growing success story of the TRNC. Let’s not forget that the most basic way to achieve our dreams is to make them a goal.”
Referring to the 35-year deep-rooted history and international achievements of Near East University, Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu said, “Near East University, where art, science, education and technology meet, sheds light not only on the TRNC but also on the world. And, people come from all over the world to see this light. This makes theTRNC a more well-known place. This success of Near East University is not a coincidence.”
Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu emphasized that art is a strong expression of developed societies and enlightened individuals and said, “The Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts offers an international platform by exhibiting the works of artists from many parts of the world and emphasizes the cultural richness of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”

Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu continued her speech by saying, “Our exhibition organized in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is also the 450th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. The combination of these two meanings in the same exhibition magnifies the importance of our opening.”
Stating that the Republic is not only a form of government, that it is an important value that directs social progress with science, art, education and universal ethical values, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “Science, art and technology rising on the Near East University campus serves to strengthen our Republic and integrate our country with the world.”
Emphasizing that Near East University is listed among the best universities in the world by many higher education rating organizations, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “Our university was by far the best in the TRNC in the ‘World University Rankings 2024’ announced by AD Scientific Index, and was among the top five Turkish universities in Turkey. In the same study, we were ranked as the 96th best private university in the world and the 14th best private university in Europe,” Referring to the “World Universities Field Ranking 2024” published by Times Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Nalça Andrieu reminded that Near East University ranked first among the TRNC universities in all 7 categories and among the top 5 universities among Turkish universities. Stating that success is not a coincidence but the result of intense and determined study, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça Andrieu said, “Shaping the future is only possible with projects and ideas based on science, art and technology.
Dean of Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Dr. Aygenç started his speech by touching on the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC, and said, “We are very happy to celebrate two Republic Days one after another.”
Stating that the Republic is a transformation that liberates society and the individual and makes them independent, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç emphasized that the Republic is based on the values of friendship, humanity, peace, reason, science and modernity. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words: ‘A nation that does not paint, a nation that does not make sculptures, a nation that does not do the things required by technology, must confess that that nation has no place on the path of progress’ and ‘A nation without art means that one of its life vessels has been severed’. Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “With these words, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk pointed out how science, technique and art are in an inseparable integrity and that they are the basic elements of social development and progress, and the Near East University is a concrete example of this awareness with all its units.”
Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “Every exhibition bearing the signature of the Near East, museums, cultural centers, libraries and contributions to education; All breakthroughs in science, technology, health, sports, culture and art are shining steps that will carry us and our country to a bright future. We are proud to be a part of this long-term process.”
