“Cyprus Landscape and Its Diversities” and “Poetry of Time” exhibitions opened at the University of Kyrenia Fine Arts Gallery

“Cyprus Landscape and Its Diversities” and “Poetry of Time” exhibitions were opened at the University of Kyrenia Fine Arts Gallery by Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of National Education and Culture.

“Cyprus Landscape and Its Diversities” exhibition of Alexey Utkin, who has participated in many national and international exhibitions, consists of 20 works. Details come to the fore in the works of the artist, who depicts the historical regions of Nicosia and Kyrenia. The “Poetry of Time” exhibition, in which Asgat Dinikeyev portrays what time evokes, also consists of 20 artworks. Exhibitions can be visited by art lovers between 08.00-16.00 until 25 June.

At the ceremony hosted by Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University of Kyrenia Assist. Prof. Dr. Cemre Günsel Haskasap, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu and Director of Near East Enterprises Museums Department Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul gave speeches.


Olgun Amcaoğlu: “Every work of art is a bridge built from the past to the future of the TRNC”
Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu started his speech at the opening of the exhibition by emphasizing that artistic activities and works of art are a bridge built from the past to the future of the TRNC. Minister Amcaoğlu said, “The reflection of the old silhouettes of the TRNC and Kyrenia into the artworks here will enable our children in the future to see the past and predict the time phases our country has gone through from a very different perspective,” and thanked those who contributed to the exhibition, especially the artists Alexey Utkin and Asgat Dinikeyev.


Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu: “Countries without science and art cannot develop, grow and lose their identity”
University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu started his speech by greeting the guests and stated that they are happy to open the 371st exhibition held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu said that science and art leave the place where they are not valued and appreciated, and that the countries that did not contain these two inseparable elements could not develop, grow and lose their identity.

Pointing out that the Near East Enterprises followed an exemplary attitude in this context, Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, emphasized that the efforts of Suat İrfan Günsel, the founder of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and his family members are worthy of great praise and respect.

Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu said that introducing our country to the world through art is one of the services rendered to our society, and touched upon the connotations of the titles “Cyprus Landscape and its Diversities” and “Poetry of Time” and described the works of both artists as magnificent.

Director of Museums Department of Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said, “We are proud and happy to bring together the exhibitions “Cyprus Landscape and Its Diversities” and “Poetry of Time” and art lovers on behalf of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, at the University of Kyrenia Fine Arts Gallery.”

Underlining that the Near East Enterprises is leading the way in preserving works of art, realizing high-level spatial designs, and especially creating very competent museums, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul also made statements about the Cyprus Archeology Museum and the Maritime History Museum. Prof. Dr. Ali Özkul said, “As the Near East Enterprises, we continue to work to add new museums to the service of the society. These include the Cyprus Archaeological Museum and the Maritime History Museum. The selection of Teal Ship as the Maritime History Museum is a clear example of the importance we place on museology, history and loyalty.”
