Continuing Education Centre of University of Kyrenia has announced that it will be initiating the courses to teach Turkish and the Turkish culture to the foreigners living on the island on April, 21st.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyrenia, the courses will be provided over 10 weeks, 5 hours a week, making a total of 50 hours of short term educational program, which will be facilitated by the specialists of the University of Kyrenia.

Turkish and the Turkish Culture will be practically taught…

With the use of internationally known books, the Turkish language will be taught by first starting to consider different alphabets of languages, which will then progress to basic grammar rules; reading and writing techniques in Turkish. The teaching staff will also be providing certain helpful course notes to refer to while teaching Turkish. Those learning the language will not be just sticking to a single course book, but will also be using supportive audio-visual materials to assist their learning.

Making a statement on the matter, General Secretary of University of Kyrenia; Assist. Prof. Dr. Hürmüs Refiker, stated that it was rather significant that Turkish Language was taught to both the students of University of Kyrenia and to foreigners living on the island. In this regard, she stated that they had initiated the aforementioned program which is to make the Centre the main address for continuous education!”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Koldaş: “This is an important program which will enable the Turkish Language and the Turkish Culture to be taught to islanders!”

Director of Continuing Education Centre of University of Kyrenia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Koldaş expressed the program at hand was a short term program and that highly esteemed members of the University of Kyrenia would be teaching the Turkish Language. He further added that besides Turkish, the Centre facilitated other short short-term certificate programs on other languages such as Ottoman Turkish, English, Italian, Greek, German, Russian and French.

Furthermore, he stated that Continuing Education Centre of University of Kyrenia will soon be organising educational programs such as communication; informatics; architecture; administrative sciences; and computer usage for the service of the public. Moreover, he stated that they were very pleased with the interest shown to the programs provided by the Continuing Education Centre of University of Kyrenia and that the centre was leading to the internalization of the concept of “life-long-learning”.
