According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, artist Almaz Sharshekeev delineated the two sites known as historical and cultural heritage of Cyprus, Ancient Kyrenia Harbour and Bellapais Monastery for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts during the covid-19 lockdown and they are now being exhibited.
Bellapais Monastery
Monastery is located in the city of Kyrenia, Cyprus. It was built in the 12th century during the Lusignan period on the foundations built in the Roman period. The structure is one of the most beautiful examples of gothic architectures in the east.
Ancient Kyrenia Harbour
The ancient harbour was used by many states for years as the port of Kyrenia Castle, built in the 7th century under the Byzantine administration. The ancient Kyrenia Harbour is one of the most beautiful sites of the Mediterranean and Cyprus.
Who is Almaz Sharshekeev?
He was born in 1979. He studied at Kyrgyzstan State Art University during 1996-2000. In 2009, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2005-2008, he worked as a teacher at the National Academy of Arts of Sadikov Kyrgyzstan Republic. Since 2005, he has been working as a teacher at Kyrgyzstan State Art University. In 2010, his solo exhibition was held in the Bishkek gallery. In 2012, his solo exhibition titled as “My Palette” was opened in Bishkek at the Russian Science and Culture Centre. In 2003, he jointly opened the exhibition titled as “Jashoochyragy” with Beishebayev Kanat at the exhibition hall of the Association of Artists of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. Later in 2016, he opened a joint exhibition with Mongolian artist Chogzhmooo Uuzh Miller titled as “Emotions on the palette” at the exhibition hall of the Association of Artists of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. Then in 2017, his 2017 “Series” exhibition was opened at Gapar Aitiev National Art Museum. The same year, he opened his personal charity exhibition titled as “Malevich City” Gastrobar “Van Gogh” opened in Bishkek.
