The joint art exhibition of University of Kyrenia and International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) World opened under the auspices of His Excellency President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu.
According to the press information release made by Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyrenia, the joint art exhibition which has been organised through the cooperation of University of Kyrenia and Office of General Secretary of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) to exhibit the works of artists from countries that are members of the TURKSOY, was opened at the NEU Grand Library Lounge under the auspices of His Excellency, President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu.
The exhibition was opened by the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Dr. Derviş Eroğlu; the Founding Rector of the University of Kyrenia, Cemre Günsel Haskasap; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East University, Assist. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University of Kyrenia, Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu. The Representative of TURKSOY to TRNC; Güler Fedai informed the President; Dr Derviş Eroğlu, about the works exhibited.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University of Kyrenia; Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu and General Secretary of TURKSOY; Düsen Kaseinov both delivered speeches at the event. Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu pointed out the cultural dimension of the art exhibition and expressed the significance of events alike on the path of reuniting the Turkic nations and the development of their interrelations.
General Secretary of TURKSOY; Kaseinov expressed his pleasure to be in the TRNC as the guest of University of Kyrenia. He also stated his gratification on the opportunity; created as part of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of TURKSOY, to develop the interrelations with the Turkish Cypriot Community and that the activities of TURKSOY had spread out beyond the boundaries of the Turkic world, creating new horizons to share cultures with other nations.
During the art exhibition, a short film was also shown for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous Kazakh composer Mukan Tölebayev. Subsequently, a short concert from parts of the Birjan and Sara Opera, which has been added to the opera repertoire in Turkey for the first time this year, was given.
