According to the 2021 YKS placement results, Near East University became the most preferred university in the TRNC this year as well. According to the announced results, the number of students who preferred Near East University was 1,951. The number of students placed in University of Kyrenia was 436.

Near East and Kyrenia universities were preferred by one out of every three students who preferred to study in the TRNC.
According to the 2021 YKS preference results, the total number of students who preferred the TRNC for university education and placed to one of the universities was 7,560. The share of Near East University, which continues to be the most preferred university in the country, from students who have been placed in TRNC universities increased from 24.5 percent to 26.2 percent. When the 436 students who were placed in the University of Kyrenia are included, one out of every three students who preferred the TRNC for university education was placed in the University of Kyrenia along with Near East University. For the 2021-2022 academic year, which will start face-to-face on September 20, students must complete their final registration by September 10. After the final registration, the additional placement process will begin for the vacant quotas.

Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan stated that according to the YKS preference results, Near East University continues to be the most preferred university in the TRNC, and said: “This shows that it is also adopted by young people.”

Expressing his satisfaction with the results, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said, “The fact that it has maintained its feature of being the most preferred university of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus this year is an indication of the trust placed in Near East University.”

Reminding that this year the training will be held face to face, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan said that students who have the right to enroll in Near East University will be able to register at the Near East University Turkey representative offices and at the Registrar’s Office on the Near East University campus between September 6 and 10. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said, “I would like to thank all our students who preferred us. It is our greatest source of happiness to make you experience the privilege and pride of being a Near Easterner. I wish you a healthy and successful academic year.”
