Assist. Prof. Dr. Evrim Ergün; “I named my works “Distance, Quarantine and Protection’”
According to the information given by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, artist-academician Evrim Ergün made a statement regarding her works; “As the breakout of the virus, which we could not understand and identify at first, became a serious threat, talking about the concept of social isolation, quarantine and curfew, which was taken as a precaution, increased anxiety in many countries. This unexpected situation, limited sociability, being constantly at home, staying with our loved ones and relatives made us more depressed individuals. On the concept of social isolation, I tried to depict the effects of the process we are in, by naming “Distance, Quarantine and Protection’ to my works that I produce by combining the material of jewelry design with epoxy material. In this process where we need each other as social creatures, I think that we have the opportunity to express ourselves and communicate through art by continuing our artistic activities in the home environment, even though we cannot be in the workshop environment.”
