Opened with the participation of the Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Tajik artist Abdukodir Rakhimov’s solo painting exhibition titled “The Environment of the Future” and the “Group Sculpture Exhibition”, bringing together the sculptures of Kazakh and Kyrgyz artists, met with art lovers at the Exhibition Hall of the Near East University Hospital.
“The Environment of the Future” exhibition brings together 50 unique artworks of Tajik artist Abdukodir Rakhimov, inspired by the TRNC. The “Group Sculpture Exhibition”, which is the 389th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, brings together the sculptures of Kazakh and Kyrgyz artists.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibitions, which can be visited until 5 November, the Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, the Director of Museums Department of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul and Tajik artist Abdukodir Rakhimov gave speeches.
Olgun Amcaoğlu: “We will do whatever we can about education and art until the last day we shall put down the pen.”
Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, who opened the 388th and 389th exhibitions of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, said, “I would like to thank the Günsel Family, who never gave up on producing and working, and all the staff of the Near East University. With these works they bring into existence, they not only invest in our country, but also introduce our country to the world.”
Stating that Near East University is at the forefront not only in higher education but also in every field of education and the value it places on art, Amcaoğlu said, “Near East University adds value to our country with its support to art and artists, as well as world-class contemporary education conditions.”
Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul: “We wish to move our country forward, to promote our country in the international arena, and to bring art to the fore, as in all fields.”
Starting his speech by reminding that Near East University is ranked in the 201-250 band in the world in the field of “Engineering” and “Computer Sciences” in the “2022 World University Rankings” published by Times Higher Education, it ranks first among Turkish and Cyprus universities. Director of Museums Department Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said that there is only one objective behind all these successes and that this objective is to move the TRNC forward.
Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said, “Art is one of the two tools in the development of humanity. We regard art as a part of life and even as a value that gives direction to life. For this reason, we have ensured that all institutions affiliated to the Near East Enterprises are intertwined with art.”
Abdukodir Rakhimov: “I and my works I created for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art have been inspired by the TRNC and my surroundings over the course of two years.”
Tajik artist Abdukodir Rakhimov, who brought together 50 works of art he has made for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts with art lovers in his solo exhibition titled “The Environment of the Future”, said that he is happy to bring his art together with art lovers through the Near East University and continued his words as follows; “There is a unique world of power, beauty and harmony created by the Günsel Family. I was inspired by the TRNC and my surroundings for the works I created for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts over the course of two years.”
“I encoded information in my paintings through letters, signs, lines and colors. The image of the painting is a harmonious interaction of color, lines, shapes, light and shadow. All these components are like the actors on the stage and each has its own role. However, as an artist in my works, I don’t decide who plays the main role, I just direct this emerging theatre. Abdukodir Rakhimov said that he dedicated his solo exhibition “The Environment of the Future” to the Günsel Family and the people of the TRNC.
