A School of Air Sports has been established under University of Kyrenia

At the senate meeting of University of Kyrenia, which was held on 6th August 2014, a decision was taken regarding the establishment of a School of Air Sports under the body of University of Kyrenia. In this regard, Görkem Bulunç was appointed as the head of this school. Initially, model aircraft, paragliding, and powered hang gliding courses will be provided by this school, and the dates for registry to the courses and the relevant dates which they will be running, will be announced within the forthcoming days.

According to the press info release from the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyrenia, the above mentioned courses will be run as part of the protocol signed between the University of Kyrenia and Yavraukuş Air Sports Federation of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, titled as “Scientific Counseling and Training Cooperation Protocol”. The courses will be provided at the Air Sports Federation and will be given by specialists from both the University of Kyrenia and Yavrukuş Air Sports Federation. Those who complete their courses will be presented their certificates and licenses by School of Air Sports of University of Kyrenia and Yavrukuş Airports Federation.

In the statement made by the Head of School of Air Sports of University of Krenia, Görkem Bulunç, it was stated that everyone who is interested in doing air sports and aviation will be able to attend various courses facilitated by the School of Air Sports of University of Kyrenia as part of the cooperation protocol between the aforementioned establishments. Bulunç added that they aimed to increase the variety of air sports offered at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and that the climate of our country was highly suitable to do air sports. Moreover, Bulunç gave the the good news that the School of Air Sports of Universtiy of Kyrenia will be initially starting off with model aircaft, paragliding and powered hang gliding courses, and that they were planning to facilitate further air sports courses which have never been run at the TRNC before.
