Establishing a link between the past and the present with its collections reflecting the cultural identity and history of Cyprus, the Walled City Museum has brought 2,500-year-old motifs of the Cypriot civilizations to the present day with the stained glass placed on its doors and windows.

Welcoming its visitors right next to the Kyrenia Gate, one of the three entrance gates of historical Nicosia, the Walled City Museum gathers the history and culture of Cyprus under one roof with its 5-storey building. Opening the doors of a different era and world to its visitors on each floor, the Walled City Museum brings together history and art with the stained glass windows that decorated its windows.

Ancient motifs of Cyprus came to life in the stained glass windows at the Walled City Museum!

The stained glass windows designed and produced by Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts artist Sinem Akın Kılınç, who also has her signature on the stained glass windows of the 104 windows of the Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque, adorn the entrance door and windows of the museum. On the stained glass windows at the entrance of the museum, a composition depicted on a ceramic jug dating back to 750-600 BC, is used.

The stained glass windows of the museum include Cypriot bird motifs, lotus flower, leaf motifs and many other motifs taken from works from the archaic period. The stained glass that adorns the doors and windows of the Walled City Museum was completed by artist Sinem Akın Kılınç, through a seven-month effort.
