20th anniversary celebrations of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) are going on with great joy and enthusiasm

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of the University of Kyrenia, Painters from different member countries of Turkic World are coming together in TRNC for the first time to realize the XVI Gathering of Painters of TURKSOY again within the frame of the activities organized by the Founding Rector of the University of Kyrenia, Cemre Günsel. The occasion which will be realized under the auspices of the TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu, will be hosted by Cemre Günsel, the President of the Organization Committee.

Since its foundation, the International Organization of Turkic Culture has been the voice of Turkic Speaking Peoples through various cultural and artistic events it realized. The gathering of painters is a traditional event regularly organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture. The XVI Gathering of Painters of TURKSOY will be held at the center library of the Turkic World; the Grand Library of the Near East University, the sister university of the University of Kyrenia, on December 18, 2013.

The event, which is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the foundation of TURKSOY, will provide platform to the painters to exhibit their works. The exhibition featuring a great number of paintings of many artists from different countries of the Turkic World will take place at the presence of the TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu along with journalists and a large number of art lovers. The exhibition will provide outstanding contributions to the cultural and art dynamism of the member countries. The event aims to develop the international cooperation amongst the member countries as well.The opera artists of BİRJAN and SARA, the work of Kazak Composer Mukan Tulebayev, will be on stage at the opening celebration of the exhibition.

According to the press info, within the framework of the XVI Gathering of Painters celebrations, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) organized a concert featuring performances of stars from Turkic countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The concert with piano accompaniment which will take place at the Concert Hall of NEU-AKM (Atatürk Culture Center) is expected to gather a large audience. At the concert where BIRJAN and SARA opera will be staged by the stars wearing special clothes, art-lovers will have the opportunity to attend unique and colorful performances of famous artists from Turkic World.

A short film will also be played in commemoration of the famous Kazakh composer Mukan Tölebayev during the activities.

At the event, 40 works from the collection of TURKSOY and thousands of paintings of the painters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, the Republic of Bashkortostan (RF), Hakas Republic, the Republic of Sakha Yakutia (RF), the Republic of Tatarstan(RF), Gagauzia (Moldova), and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be exhibited for the art-lovers.

Brijan and Sara
The fabulous libretto of Birjan and Sara, the immortal work of art of the famous Kazakh composer Mukan Tölebayev, will be staged by the elite stars of the member countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan during the event. The libretto of Birjan and Sara opera which is based on a true event derived from historical facts, contextualized the conflict arising from the deep and stormy love affair between Bircansal Kojagulov, the famous composer and poet, and Sara Tastanbekova, the famous female poet, with the aesthetic structure of “Aytıs” style. The libretto features the complex love of the duo in a musical process. It is considered as one of the most beautiful works of Kazakh opera.

Within the scheduled activities of the University of Kyrenia, the XVI Gathering of Painters of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) will be open to all art-lovers of interest.
