  1. Definition and Purpose of the Unit

The Student Dean’s Office (Health, Culture and Sports Department) is one of the university’s core administrative and academic support units. The primary purpose of the unit is to support students’ academic, psychological, social, and cultural development throughout their university education through a holistic approach, to enhance their adaptation to university life, and to contribute positively to their learning processes.

Within this framework, the Student Dean’s Office plans and implements programs, activities, and extracurricular initiatives that enable students to become familiar with different cultures, develop personal and professional competencies, and gain learning experiences outside the classroom.

  1. Organizational Structure

The Student Dean’s Office includes the following sub-units that address student needs from a multidimensional perspective:

  • Psychological Counseling Unit (PDRAM)
  • Social and Cultural Support Unit
  • Feedback and Communication Unit
  • Language Support Unit
  • Health and Wellness Services
  • Academic Support Services
  • Student Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

These units operate in a coordinated manner to enhance student satisfaction and support academic success.

  1. Psychological Counseling Services

The university recognizes that students may experience psychological difficulties due to family-related issues, the adaptation process to university life, stress management challenges, and personal difficulties. Such problems are considered to potentially lead to academic motivation loss, lack of interest in courses, depression, and other mental health issues.

Accordingly, the Student Dean’s Office provides:

  • Accessible and culturally sensitive psychological counseling services,
  • Free individual counseling sessions and therapy services,
  • Stress management and psychoeducational workshops.

Students in need of psychological support receive services through the Psychological Counseling, Guidance, and Research Center (PDRAM).

  1. Social and Cultural Support Unit

The Social and Cultural Support Unit aims to enhance students’ social and cultural adaptation to university life and to support their development as active and participatory individuals in a multicultural campus environment. The unit plans and implements activities, workshops, cultural events, and social responsibility projects designed to improve students’ social interaction skills, cultural awareness, and sense of social responsibility.

Through these activities, it is aimed to strengthen students’ sense of belonging, increase satisfaction with university life, and provide opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. The activities conducted by the Social and Cultural Support Unit are regularly evaluated based on student feedback and continuously improved in line with a continuous improvement approach.

  1. Feedback and Communication Mechanisms

The Student Dean’s Office aims to establish effective and sustainable communication between students and university administration. In this context, various feedback mechanisms have been created through which students can submit their opinions, suggestions, and complaints.

The communication channels used include:

  1. Financial Aid and Support Mechanisms

The Student Dean’s Office provides various financial support and counseling services to prevent students from interrupting their education due to economic reasons.

Within this scope, students are offered:

  • Scholarship opportunities based on faculties and academic performance,
  • Part-time employment opportunities,
  • Installment payment options and flexible payment plans.

These practices are regularly reviewed in line with current economic conditions and student needs.

  1. Health and Wellness Services

Protecting students’ physical health and being prepared for emergencies are among the university’s priorities. Therefore, students are encouraged to have health insurance.

Within the scope of access to health services, students may benefit from:

  • Health facilities and insurance information services,
  • University-affiliated healthcare institutions,
  • Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital,
  • Near East University Hospital,
  • Near East New Boğaziçi Hospital.
  1. Academic Support Services

The Student Dean’s Office provides structured academic support services to enhance students’ academic success. In this context, learning specialists and academic advisors who support students’ learning processes are assigned within each academic unit.

These services contribute to improving students’ course performance and strengthening their academic adaptation.

  1. Student Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

Numerous student clubs operate within the university to support students’ social, cultural, and athletic development. Through these clubs, students:

  • Develop social interaction and teamwork skills,
  • Enhance leadership and organizational competencies,
  • Gain opportunities to become familiar with different cultures.

Students may join existing clubs or take the initiative to establish new student clubs in accordance with university regulations.

  1. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

The services provided by the Student Dean’s Office are regularly monitored and evaluated through student feedback and institutional assessment mechanisms. Based on the data obtained, continuous improvement efforts are carried out to enhance the effectiveness of the services.
