World Children’s Rights Day
November 20, World Children’s Rights Day, holds great significance in reminding us of the fundamental rights that all children possess—such
as the rights to life, development, protection, and participation—and in raising global awareness for the safeguarding of these
rights. In line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, supporting the physical and mental well-being of children is a shared
responsibility of both healthcare professionals and society as a whole.
The nursing discipline plays a critical role in supporting the physical, psychosocial, and emotional well-being of children. Ensuring healthy growth and development, preventing diseases, creating safe care environments, and raising parental awareness are among the key responsibilities of nurses. In this context, the protection of children’s rights is not only a legal obligation but also an inseparable part of ethical values.
As the Department of Nursing, we believe that respecting children’s rights and ensuring their implementation are fundamental components of strengthening public health. In this regard, we continue to prioritize the best interests of the child in our education, research, and community engagement activities, and to support ethical and evidence-based practices in child-focused care services.
On this special day, we once again emphasize the importance of a world where all children can live in love, safety, peace, and justice, and we underline that the creation of healthy societies of the future is only possible by upholding children’s rights.
Happy World Children’s Rights Day.
